While we do have a well-defined system for ranking a phone on multiple criteria, spread out across sections, in the end, you still get a single vague number, mostly useful for SEO.

      As for the particular high score, the NEX S got a big deduction of point for software, camera, IP rating… basically all the CONS in the conclusion. However, the unique hardware features, excellent display, top-notch performance and amazing battery life were simply enough to offset the average and bring it back up.

            Basically a very expensive gimmick. While the screen can wow people I'd hate to drop it while the camera is stuck out.. Or even worse eventually the camera getting stuck. That said if I had more money than sense I would surely buy one for the wow factor.

                You didn't comment on the piezo speaker, is it better than the original mix?

                  Not bad at all. The battery life is expected from me, since it is using a Super AMOLED panel with the efficient SNAPDRAGON 845 along with a 4000mAh battery. Camera definitely needs improvement; VIVO should roll out some software updates to improve the camera, and of course the price if priced at a slightly lower price that would be great. But one thing that I disliked about the smartphone is the software, it seems like among the 3 brands from BBK VIVO and OPPO tend to make their software look like iOS. Some people might like it but in my opinion if it is ANDROID, it is ANDROID, so don't try to make the software as iOS as possible. The only thing that people will say about FunTouchOS and ColorOS is how much of a iOS copycat they are, so maybe try to revamp the software

                    While the whole concept might not be perfectly executed (Funtouch, camera quality and fingerprint reliability), I think the design is great and definitely pointing towards future standard devices design.

                    Since this is the first ever concept of this kind, flaws are expected for early models. They still need to figure out what to do with selfies camera but I like the OPPO and ZTE concept tho, NEX S feels a little bit rush on this matter... But really kudos to them for taking this big step and leading this kind of notchless design.

                    I would not buy this early models just yet... Want to see long term review about this kind of devices and wait for Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi concepto too, after that we'll see...

                    As for now, good job Nex, and congrats, please keep improving your OS.

                      Wow, excellent battery life.

                        Excellent phone for its price, and FunTouch OS needs improvement.
                        This is the best enduring phone I've ever seen! 101 hours!

                              I think both 2 cons are serious cons:
                              -Funtouch OS is badly organised, chaotic and difficult to use. Many features are not regionalized
                              -The camera has noticeable issues with noise, especially in low-light conditions
                              Why it get so high rating??

                                For more than $700 not included taxes, nex S doesn't deserve as flagship phone just because it's popping camera. The photos is average compared pixel, s9 series and galnote 8. Funtouch is worst part. So annoying to use. Complicated. The fingerprint on screen too slow. The good part only sd 845 with 6 or 8 gigs of rams. For chinese phone, I prefer choosing mi mix2s or mi8/mi8 Explorer.

                                    Pretty fair review. I may still pick this up since the negatives are pretty much expected. The fps may be due to setting up right since many youtubers are saying it works just fine.

                                      So...

                                      Device lacks IP rating, stereo speakers, storage cannot be increased by SD card. The screen has low ppi and is not HDR10.

                                      The rear cameras are awful, pretty strong NR that acts only on parts of the photo leaving the rest full of noise.
                                      The selfie is even worse, looks like the user went to manual and set EV + 2.0. Completely overexposed.

                                      And the worst part is the fact at almost $800, this does not have NFC.

                                      Only the battery life is a good point..

                                        Okay,very good looking phone with flagship chipset...but it comes with awful OS,horrible fingerprint reader and low-midrange cameras...and for $700(in China,so if it ever reaches EU it will be $100-200 even more expensive.though with Global Firmware instead this awful Chinese one).So,big question is why take this,clearly unfinished product,instead of every single flagship of today,including the ones from top dogs...??
