androidbrick, 25 Jul 2018So best budget phone for gaming at least. And the cheapest ... moreIf only they were selling adapters for music lovers like you.
Oh wait they do! Such a hard concept to grasp. Now you will never be able to listen to music to this device you need 3.5mm for that.
For example my phonograph stopped working I have stopped listening to music too, no way to listen through those headphones or speakers...

Kangal, 27 Jul 2018This is a great phone for the price.
Sure, for relativel... moreThis is a great phone for the price.
Sure, for relatively cheap they could have:
- switched to AndroidOne
- added NFC support
- added a microSD slot
- added 3.5mm headphone jack
- upgraded USB 2.0 to a USB 3.1, on that Type-C connector
- added a larger 4,000mAh battery
- put the loudspeaker on the bottom bezel so that it is front-firing
...overall it adds under $10 to the BoM.
And for considerably more money they could have:
- added more 4G-LTE bands / support for international
- used a better front camera
- used a better rear camera (eg IMX 380, OIS, Laser Autofocus, Brighter LED)
- went for a dual front-firing stereo loudspeakers (tucked into the bezels) to compete with the quality and volume of the current music king (Razer Phone)
- upgraded to the QSD 845 SoC
- bump up the memory/storage to LPDDR4X 8GB/256GB UFS 2.1
- made the phone externally symmetrical
- added MIL-STD-810G shockproofing tested
- included a Phone Dock in the box that acts as an Alarm Stand, or TV Box, or as a Standalone PC by giving you HDMI and USB ports in the rear
- include a controller in the box like the GameSir T1s, but one that was engineered to have lower latency (eg 90ms instead of 140ms).
- added IP68 waterproofing tested
- used an in-screen fingerprint scanner
- added a Titanium Alloy sides to a Kevlar back (grippy, durable, no smudges, looks and feels great)
- bumped the resolution from +1080p to +2160p for VR-application
- added x4 primary cameras to get the best selfie performance, best rear performance, and to get a 360' video recording for AR and VR-applications built into the phone
- Used cutting-edge engineering in this industry to cram all that stuff into a physically SMALLER phone by not using a weird 2.077:1 aspect ratio but instead opting for a 1.9:1 aspect ratio. This means the screen is 1.78:1 aspect ratio + an extra 0.06:1 screen on each bezel side to give people rounded-corners and centre-notch. Effectively DOUBLING the Screen-to-Body ratio of the Xiaomi Mi 8.
....depending on where you stop, this can add $50 or add $500 to the BoM
(though I would personally be happy to pay the excess $500+ to compete against the iPhone/Galaxy super-luxury price-range whilst offering much much more innovation, specs and tech for your money)

the best thing about it is that it's not too big, not too small.
other phones are getting ridiculously big, and difficult to put into the pocket.

Honestly, right now for that price($321/275euro from China) I cannot think of better phone.Seriously thinking of getting one,I`m even ready to forgive that horrible hole in the screen.Only thing that worries me,after reading this review, is a problem with audio output.Hopefully a new software update will fix that...

stivi737, 26 Jul 2018Those who want IP68 and memory card:
1. This is a freakin'... moreI couldn't have said it better.
It reminds me when I replied to someone complaining because the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite had "aging" chipsets and no 3.5mm on the former.
I was like, come on! The Mi A2 Lite only costs $150 and the SD625 is still great at that price.

androidbrick, 26 Jul 2018To be more iPhone-like I guess...Well, seeing as how the iPhone X somehow became top of the charts in China, that statement makes a lot of sense

No mention of the lack of band 20 LTE? It's one of the biggest flaws of this device and it's an important detail to people living on three continents.
Otherwise the device is pretty solid. I just hope Xiaomi will start putting in band 20 support on their low and mid-range devices (the Mi8 and Mi8 EE have it).
