Sony Xperia XZ3 review

Few phones can claim they caused quite as big of a stir as the Xperia XZ3. After Sony dropped its first curved OLED Xperia, seemingly out of the blue at IFA 2018, reactions have ranged from overwhelming excitement, through confusion and all the way to denial and anger. That's a level of drama typically reserved for soap operas or celebrity gossip and it all spells out one thing - a massive wave of exposure for Sony.

Let's face it, Japan is behind South Korea as far as mobile technology is concerned. Best so I've seen in ages yet delivers the same specs as a Samsung S9+ or close behind and its September... The new mate 20 is just around the corner, also the oneplus 6T...

For Sony lovers only this baby, others will look elsewhere

    Good review. But could the reviewer or anybody in the know clarify if it has the full screen/gesture navigation features of Android Pie? By that I mean completely eliminating the navigation bar without any root or ADB. Thank you.

      I hope screen is RGB, but the QHD might be sign of pentile.
      Which is a poor technology.

          Sony can brag its getting Pie pre-installed first on their XZ3 but it doesn't mean you will be getting updates as fast as Pixels. XZ3 is sprinkled with Pie. It doesn't truly feel like Pie like on a Pixel or Essential.

                    So happy that Sony is releasing a very nice phone (the curved edges look great).
                    When I look for a new phone my 2 primary brands are Samsung and Sony, will see what Sony has cooking when the S10 comes out.

                            This phone is better than the other smartphones who's out there but for the price people will chose the S9/S9+ but the camera and everything else is good.
                            This phone giving 2K native and OLED with a Quantum Dot technology namely here Triluminous So this is a first because no other OLED phone have QDs.
                            Also it's much cheaper than the new iPhones and yes they other 64GB of Storage and 4GB of Ram and in Asia 6GB of RAM and in Japan a special edition 128 GB of ROM as reported and all that with SD card support.
                            The camera is good because the noise never stopped the details to appear.
                            I know it's OLED and it will have sometime in the long run a burn ins but I still rather the LCD is much better until the microLED coming.
                            Some OEMs are taking the miniLED as a backlit and that would have been fine and greater.
                            The camera is more than too perfect and it has the AI camera like Huawei, It's just marketing that this site can accept to say it's better and that's OK.

                              Can anyone tell me if the display is pen tile matrix or if it features a standard RGB sub-pixel layout? Thank you in advance.

                                The best Sony phone is almost as good as a Samsung Galaxy S9 from six months ago. Sadly, that is the state of the mobile industry right now.

                                  Glad that I'm not using anything based on 3.5mm port anymore since last year.. Headphones, earphones, portable speaker and home HiFi is wireless, so no problem with 3.5mm port absence. But I wish the camera might improved especially in low light, with update soon, who knows..
