Apple iPhone XS Max review

1 Oct 2018
The iPhone X was not just a milestone for Apple. It also turned out to be the cornerstone the next generation of iPhones is being built around. And while the anniversary iPhone wowed everyone, many people voiced their wish for a Plus size model after the excitement had worn off. And this year Apple is righting this wrong with the iPhone XS Max.

* Not much of a upgrade compare to my Iphone X except for the size and CPU..
In my humble opinion, for most iPhone X owner is not a good upgrade unless you wanted it for the size and has $1xxx extra's to blow away!

Nothing new. Comments filled with hate comments not a single positive mentioned. :D
Regardless of comments it's an amazing device as nobody cares what the haters think :)

A Lamborghini is difficult to drive on the streets, but that is not the only car they have.

This reviewer is either too lenient when he writes about cons of iPhone.
So,please allow me to add some cons
            1. Notch is there to cut off the good experience of gaming, watching videos and web browsing.
2.Huge camera bump at the back makes the phone imbalance and easier to be smashed the camera lens cover unintentionally.
            3. Apple is too stingy to put the dongle and faster charging brick + cable after charging like $1,100 for the base model.
            4. Quite expensive to fix the glass of the phone.
            5. No 3.5mm audio jack for quality audio output( pleas try not to defend that it is the future because there are proofs all over the internet that dongle are selling a lot to the iph users, just go and google it)
            6. No pro mode in camera setting yet, really? where are we,in 2013?
            7. The notch thingy is a tricky thing cos if it really cuts off its actually screen usability size is about 6.3 inches only with some resolution cut off.
Bonus- Charge gate as iphones stopped charging when in stand by mode, but apple did not admit, they just put the blame on the users as "the users' fault" !

The moment the iPhones got released this year they had an issue straightaway.

                    Cons
                    -Recycled design
-Charging is slow with the provided charger
-It's iOS and it has a ton of restrictions, especially customization-wise
-The most expensive smartphone with absurdly costly storage upgrades
-(Cr)Apple, please put the camera settings in the camera where they belong already!
-No 3.5mm jack since iPhone 7, now since iPhone XS / XS Max / XR, we need to pay for a $$ dongle, come on! PUT the 3.5mm jack where it belongs like iPhone SE, iPhone 6S and below for convenience, practicality and logical sake!
-No microsd slot since Original iPhone 2G, come on! It's 2018 already! It's been MORE THAN 10 years and you couldn't bother including it at least on proper dual-SIM models like a hybrid slot for example! Everyone should have CHOICES where they want to store! NOT everyone wants to store data in a cloud!
-No fast charger in the box, come on! It's 2018 already! Yet we have to "donate" $$ to get fast charger. Even your closest rival, *cough* Sams*** *cough* has one in the box!
-FUGLY NOTCH since iPhone X. Its hideous! Just like the upcoming Pixel 3 XL! That blocks the full-screen experience when playing games / watching videos etc.
-No home button since iPhone X. How is that going to be easy for a first time iPhone buyer? Using gestures?? What if the screen gets cracked at the bottom, you can't go back to the home screen & you're pretty much f****d.
-No Touch ID since iPhone X. (Cr)Apple, at least implement it in the power button! Not EVERYONE wants to use Face ID because of security, privacy reasons!
-eSim in some dual-SIM models. How is it convenient and practical? You can't just take the eSIM out, it's locked in the slot into one carrier and you're pretty much f****d when traveling to other countries.

There, editor, fixed it for you.

"Here is a quick reminder of how weirdly some of the Control Center toggles work. A tap on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth disengages all connections, but it doesn't turn off these features. According to Apple this way you will keep AirDrop active and yet won't be connected to anything until the next morning (or until you manually initiate the connection). That's fine, but we have to dig in settings to turn those off when we really need to, which is a step backward."

(Cr)Apple wants the battery on iPhones to get weaker faster so that every year sh***s will buy it as usual. More $$ for (Cr)Apple.

"Starting with the 2018 lineup Apple no longer includes a Lightning to 3.5mm audio adapter in the retail package of its iPhones, which means that we were unable to perform our audio quality test. We could have used an adapter from the iPhone X, but since the adapter contains a built-in DAC, the output would be representative of the adapter rather than the new iPhone XS Max."

See, (Cr)Apple, that is why you should have the 3.5mm jack reinstated back to where it belongs to perform audio test.

I thought the more efficient a12 bionic would finally improve apple's long-standing battery life mediocrity. I was wrong.

Kudos to P20 Pro for its outstanding cameras. It will be interesting to see how Mate20 Pro able to take over the low light photography crown from P20 Pro.

If you don't put highly emphasis on camera performance, pocophone F1 is a good option. After all, making money is not easy.

XZ2 Premium allows the users to use both sensors at any lighting condition when in Manual Mode, but it's unnecessary anyway.
The AUBE™ Fusion ISP also helps keep the image bright yet noise-free even with very high ISO values.
P20 Pro's ISO 102400 image is terribly noisy, while XZ2 Premium's ISO 51200 image is nicely clear and clean.

XZ2 Premium will never use both in good lighting, unless you force it ( at cost of base ISO 200 instead of 40). Also you can't be too close because fusion goes wrong.

Weird that nothing of this happens to Huawei phones...

It doesn't work for video unlike AUBE that XZ2 Premium have because of latency issue, but it's a lot faster for processing photos. P20 Pro only uses RGB and monochrome sensor together when zooming in though.
