I have been waiting for the iphone for a few months now and i was unsure of whether it would hold up against my n95 ,after a weeeks use i can honestly say it does ! there are a lot of people moaning saying it doesn't have this or that but to be honest you forget its short falls after the first 5 mins because its a pleasure to use , the texting takes about a day to get right but then your flying, the ipod is second to none , the internet is wonderfully intuitive to use and the youtube app is the iceing on the cake the camera is ok and the amazing screen compensates its low 2mp sensor, but what serious photographer uses a phones camera anyway?
i for one applaud apple for bring out a phone that shows the big guns how a operating system should work!
and the build quality is very high (not plastic)(n95)
the iphone may not be cheap or have a 5mp camera (big deal)
, but it is awesome and makes you want to pick it up and use it ,
my only negative towards the whole thing is the cost of stuff on the uk version of itunes!
buy this product with confidence
love it!

there are many articles on iPhone applicaitons on the internet but this one is outstanding. It explains each and everything in a simple way even for novice users. I have an iPhone in India and I am thrilled after reading this article.

The guys here don't say it but the little flare at the bottom of all their screen shots is from a nifty app called dock, it's available in the app installer. It lets you launch any app from any different app and lets you take screen shots.

Coming from someone who actually owns one: the iPhone is nice. Sure, it doesn't have GPS, A2DP, etc, etc. There's enough reviews that cover what's missing from the iPhone, if you need those then it's not for you, 'nuf said.
OTOH, if you want a nicely polished product which is a real treat to just use, as a phone, as an organiser and as a mobile Internet access device, then this is probably one of the better option out there. All too often we see companies ticking off a plethora of boxes on paper, while design fall by the wayside ... the iPhone is nicely balanced in between form and function, imo.

The article states "... the device will cost 1.4 times more ..." here than in the US. Doing a quick check, this appears to be using the UK price versus the US price, ignoring the fact that the UK price includes tax while the US price does not.
UK price with tax: £269
UK price before taxes: £229
USD equivalent: $474
So the UK price is just under 1.2 times the price. Ok, not a huge diff, but a little less scary than 1.4. :)

@ unknown,
Why is the iPhone worse for the environment than any other phone?! I did read the article, but I bet that if Greenpeace would analyze all the phones coming out of China they'd suffer a nervous-breakdown.
Nokia is a European manufacturer and hence has to obey strict European guidelines which may not apply to US and Chinese manufacturers.

I had a go of the iphone yesterday and i wasn't very impressed.
Yes, the way you interact with the phone is good (as in zooming in on pictures etc.)but trying to text on the iphone is ridiculous! I haven't got very big hands but i couldn't text without making a couple of hundred mistakes. BIG thumbs down.

what annoys me is when ppl say it is the best phone out there. it is NOT. also they say everyone is trying to copy the iphone. the design of a touchscreen bar phone with a button (or a few) was out much before apple relased iphone. i do not get what makes this phone revolutionary. what feature does this phone hv that no other phone in the world has already? neonodes hv a simlar touchscreen where u use sweeping gestures and they were the first to use the slide to unlock. iphone has a bad bluetooth, no mms, no video record, must buy ringtones unless u want to use the ones u get with the phone. a 2mpx cam with no settings, while there are already 5mpx and even 8mpx cams (but 8mpx is very rare and xcute dv50 is not a good phone). it is not a breakthrough internet device. it uses wifi, available on other phones and EDGE which is available on other phones as well unless they use the much faster 3g.
im not an apple hater, i hv an ipod touch 16gb but i just dont think that iphone is a good phone.

Ge an Iphone from apple store or on ebay for $399+tax (which is around $430 total), unlock it and install all those cool sftware and gams etc. It is more than $100 less than n95. So expensive is not an issue. I/ don't understand what you guys are compaining about. Also, did you ever check the picture quality of iphone. You have been ripped off by SE and nokia with cmos sensor cameras which in any condition will not take pictures as good as a cheap digital camera. Iphone's camera does the job and takes good pictures no matter what. You are not going to be able to print quality pictures from any cell phone available on the market oher than i-mobile 901 which has a 5 mpx CCD sensor. Don't you hate massing with all kinds of warnings and load screens pops up on te screen when you need to go online with your cell phone and check something from google or check your email. Well, iphone makes it pretty simple. You need to use it once and then do the compare. I used many SE and nokia cell phones before and overall what ever they did, it was a cell phone and nothing that exciting. Compare 6600 and nokia n95 and tell me a very bg difference in te user interface. Those two cell phones have 5 years between each other. Please wake up and ask for more for the money you are paying for the products you are buying. I also used Windows mobile. Don't even cpompare it with the iphone's simple and yet very capable user interface. Trying to hit the start button at the top corner takes at least 3 tries. I am not talkin about the web browser. Also complare the build quality. Please take a nokia n95 in your 1 hand and take an iphone to the other and then talk. The closes cell phone to the iphone in the market is nokia e90 with its good (but not stable) functions but well it costs around $1000.00. The iphone is not perfect but it is the best cell phone ever produced.

@ brolly: you CAN get the best of both worlds, just get and iPod Touch (8GB for 199), then aN95 on a better contract for free. worked for me :)

One of my favorite mobile webpages got pulled off because they gave a honest review of the iphone but the Yanks couldn"t face the fact what they said about the iphone,www.mobile-review.com always tell the goods an bads about any mobile they review an i read there review an just showed that Apple iphone would not be a top class seller with all its flaws, the price of this phone an contract will not prove to be a good move by Apple £899 for a contract for a mobile its totally rediculous if it can"t match it functions,i bet after a couple of weeks time on Ebay in England will be selling loads of the iphones as the buyer realised its not a mobile that doesn"t match its worth

the iphone is a good phone with amazing UI interface, but it lacks some fun stuff like cool 3d games, block numbers etc.
if i were to take a decision between N95 8gb and iphone i would take the iphone of course because it is very stable and revolutionary.
best of both world will be the UI touch interface of the iphone + applications and cool stuff from the n95 8gb.
whatever...
