OnePlus 6T review

29 October 2018
You were the Chosen One! You were supposed to uphold the staples of smartphone design and be different, not join the madness. You were supposed to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness. Joking aside, we might as well get a couple of things out of the way straight off the bat - Yes, the OnePlus 6T has a notch and no, it no longer has a 3.5mm audio jack.

Btw, GSM Arena folks, why don't you provide display magnification anymore? Or are all LED displays pentile nowadays? (As much as i know my Nokia 808 LED display has RGB matrix.)
It's pretty important as 1080p pentile displays are unwatchable, esdpecially nowadays, when 6" diagonal seems to be minimum.

Prasan, 29 Oct 2018Comparing OnePlus with launch price for more expensive flag... moreThat is the problem to launch phones after July.
Those from Q1/Q2 are below $650 already.

SpiritWolf, 29 Oct 2018First time i will comment first and look for review later. ... moreWell, not disappointed (at least not much) but not exited also. Little noise doesn't worry me, as long as camera is capable to resolve SOME (a lot more than nowadays 12 mp cameras) detail. Nowhere near to Sony or Microsoft 19/20mp cameras but seems to beat most of 12 mp cameras in detail department. (Always look at foliage/grass. :) )But, but... what's wrong with lower right corner? Soft as girls cheeks.

"The move away from a 3.5mm audio jack has cost the OnePlus 6T a bit regarding loudness - the OnePlus 6 was above average both with an active external amplifier and with headphones, whereas its successor is average and below average respectively."

This is why the 3.5mm jack should be reinstated to where it belongs.

First time i will comment first and look for review later. Camera finally or not?

            Cons
-A proper telephoto/ultra-wide camera would be more useful
-Still no official IP rating, no stereo speakers
-No microSD slot ever since 1st model OnePlus One in 2014 (except OnePlus X), no wireless charging, no headset in the box, proprietary charging peripherals
-No 3.5mm audio jack as STANDARD
            -NOTCH (albeit waterdrop-style look)
-Pretty much an iPhone X Clone with the NOTCH (luckily waterdrop-style), No 3.5mm audio jack & No microSD slot

There, editor, fixed it for you.

Almost 600,00 but there is no:

Slot SD card ( it is about convenience)
              No headphone jack
              No stereo speakers
              No HDR screen
No 4K HDR 10 recording like G7 ( supported by the CPU)
The 2nd camera has no use

              - They copied Huawei's Night mode but results are poor. Just like Xiaomi and Google they forgot that the advantage of Huawei is the 1/1.7" along the longer exposure. Tiny sensor won't help again one twice sized.

              - I do not understand why people want "wireless" charging and fast charging on same phone. " Wireless " is slower than QC1.0. There is no advantage but saving the USB from being damaged by often use. It is not only slower but temperature is higher, not good for battery.

Good job Oneplus and bye bye Xiaomi. 6T is so much better than Mix 3 or Mi8 Pro (still no global version, shame on you Xiaomi!)

                  [deleted post]Y so fast.?

Even Lg V40 you guys yet not making the review....come on...

Comparing OnePlus with launch price for more expensive flagships is no longer a realistic comparison. For example galaxy s9 cost preety much the the same and g7 thin q from LG is roughly the same price currently.Compared to them OnePlus is not a great value all of a sudden.Sure many may choose OnePlus for various reasons. But there are more reasons to choose a s9 than to choose the 6t.

A decent phone, but not a reasonable upgrade from OP6. OP5/5T users might find this attractive though. Nice to see that impressive endurance rating thanks to the upgraded battery. OnePlus had not upgraded the battery in their phones since OP3T.

That aside though, there isn't much to discuss about it. The real OnePlus upgrade would be OP7. It will be jumping on 5G, and hopefully will finally replace that useless secondary camera for a better one. An upgraded main camera would be appreciated as well...

StraightEdgeNexus, 29 Oct 2018Lmao they had the review unit this whole timeNoticed this from other mobile phone review sites as well. I'm sure they signed an NDA when they got a review unit. I just wish the NDA includes completely preventing them from writing up articles based on "leaks" because it's just very hypocritical when they post an article regarding "leaks" and act as if they can only speculate and wait for the official announcement when they can already confirm or deny those alleged "leaks" since they have the actual unit.

Apple and Samsung record 4k60 near 80Mbps.
With such high bitrate, it is probably limited to less than 5 min.
                            OP6 has only 10 min of 4K30...

Waited for many days to buy.. Surprisingly nothing much changed apart from In screen fingerprint scanner and water drop notch. I would wait some more time to find a better alternative.

StraightEdgeNexus, 29 Oct 2018Lmao they had the review unit this whole timeOf course they did. most of them already been using the demo unit for the past week now. every other articles about this phone that comes out in a few days is all bunch of BS just to get people hyped about it.
