Reason why MIUI apps are present is because some of us don't want to use Google stuff even outside China. I actually trust Xiaomi more than Google...

I'm tired of defending Xiaomi phones to those who cannot have one or who never tried one. They keep on complaining about ads because they had only read it somewhere else and did not have the actual device to experiment how to get rid of ads. For the last 8 months I have bought 3 smartphones, 2 cameras and 1 laptop from different brands. And all I can say for now is that my decision to try a Xiaomi phone is the best choice that I have ever made in purchasing gadgets this year.

A simpler method is just to disable apps and deactivate notifications and their permissions. It takes 15 mins and is permanent.
While ads in MIUI aren't ideal, nobody talks about ads in stock Android. Sure, stock Android on its own doesn't have ads. But the minute you install third party apps in it -- apps that are in built in MIUI -- there is no stopping the ads. It's a bit misguiding when reviewers talk about the speed and lack of bloatware in stock and about ads in MIUI, they don't mention this crucial usage factor.
Ads are not ideal. But from personal experience with 3 years of stock, one year of MIUI, and again one week of near stock, I'd go MIUI as the lesser of two evils where the ads can be controlled and eliminated. Try stock with third party apps and the ads will drive you crazy.

"But including third-party apps isn't the only source of revenue for Xiaomi. Unfortunately, many of the phone's built-in apps also have ads and promotional content baked in, none of which can be removed. The web browser will also routinely push notifications that include ads. It feels like you bought a trial version of a phone with ads instead of the real thing for the full price."
Solution: Unlock bootloader, install TWRP. After that, download and install Xiaomi.EU ROM for improved performance, more features compared to Global & AD-FREE EXPERIENCE.
