Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A review

8 Nov 2018
This year, Xiaomi has released the new Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A models, updates for last year’s Redmi 5 and 5A. Launched at the same great prices as last year, the new models feature an updated design, larger displays, newer 12nm chipsets, and a few other bells and whistles.

no mention of dual 4g-volte...you can use two 4g sims at the same time.

no mention about chipset type... helio a22/p22 is a 12nm chipset..much better than 28nm sd425 chipset in redmi 5a

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2018Does it have VOLTE option?yes dual volte...u can use 2 4g sims simultaneously

6a is definitely better than 5a( my previous phone) that's all i need..as for ads i just turn them off
lack of fingerprint sensor is not a 'con' as 5a also got no fingerprint sensor

I can't stand a UI with adverts (even if I can disable them!). I was really hoping to get a Xiaomi phone soon but unfortunately because of this, I have to consider other brands.

205PPI. That's close to retina grade pixel concentration! Great value. :D

I expected a more complete , detailed review . Audio quality, loudspeaker , image quality at night including studio tests were missing , and hoped to see your suggestions from other brands , too .

For ads in MIUI, switch off recommendations in settings of every system app,

                            Eg for music app Android settings->System apps->Music->Additional settins-Receive recommendations->off

and for performance issue in 6A,
                            1. Uninstall all of crapware & unwanted apps (some directly via uninstall option & other via adb, eg adb devices; adb shell; adb pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.videos for play movies app
(i uninstalled around 30+ packages via this freeing lots of space and some of ram too)
                            2. Swtich off all of unwanted notifications for various apps & keep only desired ones on

After this all, phone works pretty well!

GSMArena, you used to suggest alternative devices at the end of your reviews. This review isn't complete without that.

What can I say for the first year that phone is great but after that its hell. Not because of the ads but because of the bugs cames with MIUI updates its really damage the phone potential or ability. Because of that bugs the battery drains fast not because its aged but it happens suddenly after updated on February 2017 till now, second simcard (the nano simcard) frequently lost signal, phone become easily and fastly heating, games easily get crash. What can I say if U want to use Xiaomi its ok as long as U dont updated it.

I want full review! as usually you do.
