Only overpriced phone worth it for me is the Note 9 .Truly a phone you can use and enjoy until the next two year upgrade cycle .Bluetooth s-pen Yes you will use. Screen for video viewing unparalleled. Battery and camera superb. Download themes to freshen up .Bloatwear lessen. New software overdue but coming on mid January

They removed headphone jack from the 6T and no useful secondary camera still. No wireless charging nor a SD card slot.

Nick, 31 Dec 2018Happy to see as Galaxy Note9 is best smartphone of the year... moreDon't know why people just say that Note 9 is the best. What do you gain from going from the S9+ to the Note 9 to justify the 10000 INR higher price point ?
The only tangible benefits are the S Pen and the 500 mAh additional battery. Rest is useless like the 8GB vs 6 GB RAM as even Androids with 4 GB RAM run flawlessly, the slightly larger screen in the Note 9 is coming with same screen resolution as the S9+ so slightly less Pixel density. The Note 9 would have been the best if was priced only 3000 to 5000 INR than the S9+.

For 2018 my picks are 2.
Note9 simply because is the more complete smartphone out there, it's probably not the best in raw power and doesn't have the wOw camera of pixel or iPhone but keep doing everything at the top.
The second one is the poco F1, man this phone is probably not the most luxurious one but it got what a flagship need and have the price of a mid range.

My favorite flagship the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and in the affordable flagship category the LG G7 thinq. Sorry no OP 6T for me it's way overrtated. In India the G7 thinq is available for much lower price than the 6T.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro is my choice and backed up by a few gsm staff as well xD

Personally my most favourites of 2018 would be the ZTE nubia X and Nokia 7 Plus. Of course this is just my opinion (yours would be different, obviously).

abigfanoftechs, 31 Dec 2018Yet you gave no explanations for your reasoning. The explanation is obvious; that's the phone he has ;)

I'm surprise that the Pixel 3 was chosen as there are so many issues with it, for example the microphone & call quality were rubbish. Google messed up the phone's basic 'features' so badly.

Foo, 31 Dec 2018Pixel 2 is better than half the phones hereYet you gave no explanations for your reasoning.

AnonD-811391, 31 Dec 2018Yeah. Me too. I was really happy that that there was no iPh... morewho said it wasn't improved? they just improved the price! hahahahaha

For 2018 i jumped for it an went for the p20 pro.

Superb phone on paper, but development was and IS absolutely rubbish, holding kernel sources back for PIE. Blocking bootloader unlocks, having about 10 different variations of software for 1 piece of hardware?

They shot themselves in the foot, not to mention axing the US out of sales.

I'll never buy huawei again, which is a shame as they have some great things going for them.

But besides the aforementioned issues, the software is a total mess, as is the system and the way it's comprised.

Long live Oneplus i say, they're the only ones listening anymore.

So in summary, the five best phones of the year are: Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Xiaomi Pocophone F1, Samsung Galaxy Note 9, OnePlus 6T and Google Pixel 3. Agreed.

Agree. Mate 20 is great, but note 9 is the best. Btw, where is ricky?
