Kangal, 15 Jul 2019Sounds good, where do I buy? ; ) Though I have a questio... moreSounds good, where do I buy? ; )"
...in dreamland, for now :')

...is the 6 inch - 8 inch in 16:9 aspect ratio?
Yes. Actually i despise the recent trend of "tall and skinny" devices, except for making phone calls. I'm using one too (PocoF1) so i know.

"I don't think you can do Removable Battery and proper IP67 protection. At least not in the traditional sense."
Both solutions for Removable Battery that you provided are viable. As for keeping the elements out, my thoughts comes to those lunchboxes with its four huge locking ears on top... it's clear by now that my device is nothing "traditional" nor "compact" ;3. Maybe splash protected is good enough. It's more unacceptable to compromise in Drop/Fall Protection than Water protection in my opinion. More on this below...

"Doing both grippy and fall protection and compact is hard."
Absolutely. But in my opinion protection is an absolute priority, I would rather use it in creative ways and not worry of breaking it, rather than having a long list of do's and donts'. I'd say a solid piece of aircraft-grade alumunium frame (think anti-roll bars for rally/off-road cars here) + kevlar-covered stainless steel as back plate, securely screwed together (unlike certain "full metal construction" phone").

You should also migrate both the USB-C and Headphone Jack to the centre of the horizontal-back.
Yes.

Speaking of the horizontal-back, you should strive to get some extra space for your index fingers (for L/R/1/2 buttons). A neat way of achieving this is to turn the Slide Mechanism (eg Xperia Play) into a Tilt Mechanism (like the Nokia N97). This gives you the added benefit of better screen visibility too.
I like that Tilt Mechanism, it gives angle to the screen when opened.

Soapy, 15 Jul 2019I appreciate your inputs in this comment section, they are ... moreSounds good, where do I buy? ; )

Though I have a question about the screen/size, is the 6 inch - 8 inch in 16:9 aspect ratio?
If it is, that's pretty big, practically a Small Tablet to Medium Tablet. Otherwise, if you're going for an Ultrawide 21:9 aspect ratio, it's anywhere between a Medium Phone (4.82in 16:9) to a Small Tablet (7.23in 16:9).

    Some advice:
I don't think you can do Removable Battery and proper IP67 protection. At least not in the traditional sense. The Samsung S5 wasn't very waterproof, it was mostly splash protected. But what you can do, is do something like the LG G5. Probably have a sealed internal battery (eg 1,000mAh), and a slot that has a rubber-seal and is spray-coated in hydrophobic compound, which can be removed to replace a second battery (eg 3,000mAh). That way, you can potentially hot-swap the second battery when you're running out of power, and you don't need to fiddle with Wireless Charging or Fast Charging. Plus, it means in 6 years time the device is still able to work thanks to a simple battery replacement.

Doing both grippy and fall protection and compact is hard. One solution is to make the phone compact, and give the owner the choice to apply a Case, and maybe a Flat Screen for Removable Glass Protectors. Other solution is to split the difference and make a compromise: get rid of the shiny candy look (no Glass Sandwich), use either a Gorilla Glass 6 front or Sapphire (like Watches), use either an Stainless Steel/Titanium central-lining, and for the back use Aerospace-Grade Matte Polycarbonate or use Kevlar. The second options will add a permanent protection that's enough for the stresses of everyday, in a quite compact package... but it won't be as protected as say a really thick case, or those CAT Phones that have several centimetres of just Rubber.

You should also migrate both the USB-C and Headphone Jack to the centre of the horizontal-back, so the cables aren't dangling in the way when you want to game at the same time as using a TV-out, charging, or listening through headphones.

Or better yet, have the phone as a Candybar/Slab Shape... and allow the bottom section with the gaming controls be able to Snap-On like a more compact Moto-Mod. This means you might be able to leave the GamePad at home when you're going to a fancy dinner, and perhaps use other Snap-On Halves like an extended battery, third loudspeaker, camera modules, or even a second screen (like the LG V50).

Kangal, 08 Jul 2019In retrospect, you could get the Nubia RedMagic 3 and the G... moreI appreciate your inputs in this comment section, they are greatly helpful. And since we're now talking about dreamy non-existent devices.... *smiles*

Let me put out what I'm looking forward to *dreamy eyes* :

      Variable 60-120hz refresh rate screen
      Variable 720-1080-2160p native resolution
Front Facing Stereo Speakers Surround Sound

Dual-recessed Analog Stick on top (and another button as clicking the analog sticks down)
      D-Pad below Left Analog stick
Four action buttons below Right Analog Stick
      Four shoulder buttons (L1+L2+R1+R2)

      Dual 4G dedicated sim slots
      Wifi a/c + Bluetooth 5.0
Dedicated microSD card slot (and provison slots for at least 2 extra cards)
3.5mm Headphone jack with Quad DAC
Side mounted Usb Type C port (18W+) with OTG
Side mounted fingerprint scanner (or under display)

      Removable Battery Pack
      Ingress Protection
      Fall Protection
      Grippy surfaces

I don't really care about pocket ability to be honest, at least not for this device. I care about big screen, big battery, stereo speakers, and ergonomics. I think Screen size + Battery capacity are scalable, but that said the screen should be around 6-8 inches.

Why do I want the Analog sticks should be recessed ? Because part of this dream is to make it a slider, like the Xperia Play. I will game when it's opened, and watch movies / use as regular phablet when closed.

I've seen you giving tips and recommendations to other commenters, and I'm hoping you do the same for me? Your insight has been helpful either way. Thank you, Kangal.

        400 dollars for this crap??????
I can get the red magic 3 for just a bit more which is dramatically superior and cooler looking. And has oled and s855.
        Then just use a controller.

That's bogus. 1080p lcd, gg3, mid range SoC, weak as cameras, weak speakers, etc. The only stand out things are the bigger battery and buttons and those are not worth that much.

New Nintendo Switch lite, kill this.

This is what all OEMs should do when they come up with the idea of releasing a gaming phone. Honor play, Mate 20X, Vivo IQQO (or whatever) Pocophone F1, Asus ROG Phone, Razer phone.... OEMs already release phone after phone every other month, why does a gaming centric device has to be more about being a phone and less like an actual gaming device? We need a gaming device that can make calls and take pictures, not a Phone that can play some games and I really hope someone starts the trend and bring us a proper device of this sort pretty soon.

Wouldn't just getting a gamepad that encases your phone be better? Most phones are better than this device.

I've been using gaming hardware (gamepads) since the first Moga controller back in 2011(?). And now I've got a Moto Z3 and the Moto Gamepad Mod. I think there's a lot of hardware options if you want to play games with gamepad but unfortunately the game development lacks incredibly. Games like PUBG doesn't even have gamepad support which should be a no brainier!
Thankfully there's tons of excellent emulators like PPSSPP out there which compensate a bit.

That being said. I really love the Moto Z3 and gamepad mod combo for gaming! It really is like a powerful PSP or even a switch if only there were more high quality games.

Surfer, 08 Jul 2019One of the best handheld console/smartphone design is that ... moreI had one, and the initial concept was cool.
But it had so many small details of problems, that I eventually gave up on it.

I think Sony's Mobile division is keen to do another one, but the Sony PlayStation division know how incompetent they are, so doesn't let them cheapen their brand for a quick hit. Besides it wasn't like the PS Vita was a runaway success.
