I wouldn't even care if this phone comes with an oled screen rather than LCD. Oled screens are great for always on displays, and apple never heard of that. So no use for oled really. Resolution is low enough to save battery power. Also the LCD screens used in iPhones are of excellent quality. Even my iPhone 6's screen is excellent, and it is from 2014.

No one watches a movie in their phone and say, "deym, that display's black rendering is so good" but the punchy colors does engrave a better image on the person's mind.

I'd like to chime in. Yes I hate it that gsmarena promotes OLED so much implying the phone reviewed could have been better if it had an amoled screen. Maybe they've never seen higher quality IPS displays that can be just as saturated as Amoleds except for the less than ideal blacks levels. Gsmarena is biased towards Amoleds and never mentions the merits of LCD and SERIOUS DRAWBACKS of OLED screens. Other than DEEP Blacks and thin displays that enable under display fingerprint scanning (another thing I'd rather avoid in Amoled under display FPS due to longevity/reliability issues), I'm for IPS all the way (unless if I'm fond of regular smartphone and 60"++ tv replacements every 2 years or so). Before anyone criticizes me I don't own any Amoled based devices, I have both a cheap 10.1" 2560x1600 IPS LCD based tablet that produces as saturated colors as my 10.5" 2560x1600 Amoled equipped Samsung tablet. IPS is really a sharper display, has better color consistency and no burn in issues. The first thing youd notice in an amoled panel if all you've had IPS displays only for years are the nasty color shifts once you tilt the amoled display. Once you see it, you can't unseenit and it takes time to get over with/adjust to. IPS displays just dim gradually when viewed off axis, more so than amoleds, but don't have any nasty yellowish/pinkish to greenish/bluish shift very visible white plain white/graysacle backgrounds and noticeably affecting human skin tones. Longevity and burn in is another serious issue. With the advent of HDR, HDR10, and HDR10+ programming (Netflix, Amazon Prime), with eye-searing brightness and contrast levels, accelerated amoled burn in will seriously affect display life. So no AMOLED based TV for me. Amoled based for phones/tablets only when I have no choice (it's becoming the defacto standard in upper midrange to flagship phones so there really is limited choice in the premium segment).

A LCD is like a diesel engine. Its less problematic, gives better mileage, has longer lifetime and a top turbocharged diesel engine is fun to drive. A OLED is like a petrol engine that can give you better horsepower but shorter lifetime and breaks down sooner than a diesel one.
I would pick the first.

Recently they learned that flagships use OLED so they simply jumped on the bandwagon. And gsmarena people constantly praising oled panels over LCDs is another reason.
A top LCD can go head to head if can't beat a great OLED any day.

[deleted post]hahahah funny, i was using xperia 1 before and now im using google pixel 3. pixel 3 is simply amazing auto camera. but if we are talking about camera..xperia 1 is one of best camera at the moment ( we are talking capability it to take a image). even sony xperia 1 can provide immersive when watching movies and playing games. its aspect ration still relative new.
the weakness xperia 1 only its auto system ( yeah i know people lazy to learn photography even he/she like to speak loud about what is the best 😆) in google pixel 3 what i missing is feel immersive when watching and playing games..
