Anonymous, 09 Nov 2019Why does it have cameras on the back? while folded the came... moreThey did it wrong. They do not reuse one of the two screen halves because they chose to have it fold inwards to "protect" the screen (if only phones cases where a thing ... lol).
That is why they need 3 pairs of cameras. One as the back snapper, another as the selfie cam while in tablet mode and another yet on the front screen. Bleh...

Why does it have cameras on the back? while folded the cameras should be on the front. When you open the screen those same cameras would be on the back. So to save all round i dont see why it would be a problem to only put one set of camera lens on there.

The surface of the screen has not been damaged but compress by my fingernails long enough to create the depressions on the surface. I did them not with blunt force but slow steady pressure. The screen recovered enough by the next morning that I could not notice them.

This is a great phone I have used it since the UK launch the screen is as the day I first started using it, so many negative views of the Samsung Galaxy fold by people who don't even have one. Most YouTube reviewers are dedicated to destroying this phone.

It is too small to be a likable smartphone when folded, and the same MEDIOCRE experience to be a tablet - that is, too small a display to be truly immersive as a tablet.
When you design a foldable device, you have to make sure it does AT LEAST ONE of its intended form factors really well - that is, work well EITHER as a smartphone, or work well as a FULL-SIZED tablet, or IDEALLY, work well as both.
As a smartphone, that is, when it's folded, the screen should be big enough (6.0" or so) so that the predominantly smartphone user who's going to use it 90% of the time as a smartphone, will not feel like it's too much of a compromise in size and functionality as their regular smartphone. The Galaxy fold in its current folded/phone mode, is a poor substitute for a regular 6" smartphone so smartphone buyers will not stick with it in the long term, and opt instead for a regular non-folding smartphone that costs much less and does smartphone functions better.
Now to appeal to the predominantly tablet user (90% tablet use), the display, when unfolded/opened, should be at least 10".
Personally, I believe small, 7-9" mini tablets are obsolete form factors. They've been largely replaced by big phones/phablets in the smaller end of the size spectrum, and outclassed by full-sized tablets (10" or bigger) at the larger end of the size range.
For a successful foldable tablet implementation, 10" should be the absolute minimum screen size. That makes it ideal for movies/multimedia no ultrasized phone or phablet can take away. The foldable device can then fold to a smaller size display that may not provide an ideal smartphone experience but nevermind, it's going to be used as a tablet most of the time anyway. HOWEVER, it should be VERY POCKETABLE and be more convenient to carry ALL DAY LONG, everyday, in one's pocket, compared to lugging daily a 10" or big, bulky tablet just because the user wants the best, the most immersive Netflix or multimedia experience.
This is the CRITICAL SELLING POINT a folding tablet-phone device needs to be. Heck, even die hard iPAD users will likely stop their nit-picking complaints (like those you read in this review) regarding the android ecosystem's fragmentation and lack of tablet optimized apps if this hypothetical folding device materializes. If Samsung does something like this, I'm sure even die-hard iPad users will be throwing their iPads to the garbage bin and running in droves to buy a foldable 10" android tablet from Samsung (if it existed instead of this).
To sum up, Samsung really should PRIORITIZE at least one of these use case scenarios. If Samsung continues to give users a half-baked experience- that is, gives users both a compromised phone and at the same time, compromised tablet experience in a folding device, the folding feature is going to be just a short-lived novelty: One that gets people (especially the early adopters with lots of cash) excited, but one which will rapidly go stale and largely be forgotten because it doesn't offer a compelling use case advantage over regular phones and/or full sized tablets.
All these things said, I appreciate the 'gamble' Samsung has done. It's going to lose for now, but if it adopts to design considerations suggested here, I'm sure its foldable devices will take off. That, or they can continue to do the same thing but sell their current foldable devices with a huge price drop (at a huge loss), which won't be sustainable.

GalaxyFold718 , 10 Oct 2019A honest review seriously 😂 this review is more like a whin... moreIt good to know it is trouble free after a month because I got one a week ago. So far I don't have any problems except I am trying to use more of voice typing when I respond to a text message without unfolding a because my case (Spigen Hybrid) is in my way to press all the buttons at the edge. I use it from 6:30 am to midnight with some YouTube video watching in the evening and 30% left. I do get a lot of notifications and messages during the day like the reviewer.

I still don't get it when everyone praises Samsung on image quality. Their cameras are a horrid mess of mushy over saturated painted look. I have had Note 10 and S10 Plus and both have disgusting image quality
