I think the bare minimum for a phone in 2023 is big performance cores (A73 or better) and a fingerprint reader. Otherwise, it can’t even compete with old flagships from 2015, which cost $30 used. I also don’t know how Android Go is to use, whether you can install all apps for example or only a selection.

Only possible excuse for not offering those essentials is if the price is below $100, because some people just want to buy an unused phone no matter what, and there have never been many options in that price range, even if the used flagship would still be much better. The Redmi A series is pretty much the cheapest new phone I know of, and the Plus has a fingerprint scanner. If they had an SoC with big cores like Unisoc T606 or better Helio G70/80, they would sweep in that price bracket.

Good day all at Gsmarena, thank you for your hardwork. This website has taught me a lot about phones, and my dream is to open a phone review channel on YouTube. I want to get a smartphone and my budget is $150-160. The phones appealing to me above are not available in my area. Any recommendations?

And buyers guide and buyers advice and compassion at this price range

Mykl.Pluto, 29 Jul 2022Why do product designers at these companies get paid so muc... moreI agree about the phone designers

phone designers are making phone that are fashion over function no need for multi camera

                  People need function over form
                  Basically
In the real would people need big removable battery's and very good power saving settings long battery life and better hardware performance mostly more ram and storage a versatile phone that meets the minimum requirements too do everything at the lowest possible price

Also software updates are very important for people who buy budget phones and a screen protector and case as they need there phones too last for years without the screen getting broken or software too outdated or The battery health getting too bad

I don't agree at all about just pay more if you don't like budget phones

people who buy phones can't afford any better and this is the very best phone they can afford there stuck with it for like 4 year's possibly till there able to save up and buy a new phone

Why not update this with Redmi 10? 9 series is quite old by now.

Why do product designers at these companies get paid so much? Why are there quad and triple cameras here and all of them have poor perfomance. These cameras are nothing to write home about too. Can't they prioritise the specs. Good performance and one one good camera is enough at this price range. Who pays $150 expecting anything than the basics. Make the basics good enough, when we have more money we will pay for an extra camera

Nokia is the best budget smartphone maker in the would for cheap smartphones

It runs Android 10 it cost me 62 dollars / 50 pound brand new

There's no point listing smartphones people can't afford it's out of a budget buyers price range

The smartphones I listed are low end yes and slow but good for the price and have up-to-date software and are a budget Opinion

Sin, 02 Jan 2022The phones are not Budget Smartphones there lower mid range... morea 100$ is lower midrange? lower midrange is more like 250eur to 300eur, most of the phones in this list are 100 to a 130eur with 3 150 exceptions (redmi 9, moto G10, redmi note 8 2021).
anyways, the phones you listed are barely usable landfilling garbage, I don't see any reason you'd buy these over a redmi 9A or realme C21, for comparison's sake I'm going to show the specs of the doogee X95, the most expensive one you've listed, here they are:
plastic build (normal for even 200eur phones)
6.5" inch IPS (can't complain for 90$) 720p(again can't complain even if the PPI here is horrendous) 60Hz display (and again)
quad core MediaTek 6737 chip scoring around 45K on antutu (half of the redmi 9A priced just about 20-30 bucks higher)
16GB of storage (max option while the redmi 9A has a 64/4GB option priced at 115$), meaning you HAVE to buy a micro SD card.
2GB of RAM may or may not be super sluggish.
13MP main sensor w/ 2MP depth sensor (redmi 9A doesn't have a depth sensor but again they're practically useless most of the time), no 60 FPS video shooting (unlike the 9A).
5MP selfie (same as redmi 9A).
micro USB (seriously doogee? to be fair the redmi 9A too has it).
the battery in this thing is about 4350 mAh and for a 7W 28nm chip with no LTPO display I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't last a single full day of ligh or average use.

It switch itself off and neve... moreI don't face that problem, the handset is plenty for the money, my only complaints are: I'm a case person and it feels pretty bulky with one, the 2MP macro cam sucks and a high refresh would've been nice because the chipset in here if anything is great (for the price) and because the phone already feels so smooth. Otherwise almost perfect except for the proximity sensing which is virtual.
