was thinking about it before buying P30 Pro .. guess that i took the right decision to buy the P30 Pro

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2020Mi note 10 with Gcam wipes the floor with any Huawei phone ... moreYou sound like if there was a proper GCam port available for this Honor flagship, it would improve the image quality. Sorry but I don't think it would, if anything it would make it a lot worse.

Also let's not forget the fact that Mi Note 10 comes with a midrange SD730G, while V30 Pro comes with the company's highest performing SoC.. they are fighting in different leagues.

For some reason the main camera of V30 Pro has stronger edge enhancement to its photos and shows more noticeable aliasing on straight lines than Mate 30 Pro. It's interesting to see, however, that in some scenes the aliasing gets completely eliminated and the image looks very pure and natural like in the picture of blue all-glass building. Maybe HDR stacking algorithms are blurring edges slightly and somewhat smoothing out those undesirable artifacts? I'm not entirely sure, but it does make me wonder why it's not always on, as it seems to be making the image look a lot better with no trade off.

The telephoto lens is a bit more problematic though, the focusing is definitely not as good as its more expensive siblings and low light photos look quite terrible. No wonder why DxOMark decided deduct scores in the autofocus section.

Contrary to what GSMArena says in this review, I think UWA camera is pretty good in low light. It's obviously not on the same level as, let's say, the one on Mate 30 Pro or Galaxy Note 10, but it demolishes iPhone 11 Pro's whenever the light is not sufficient and there are plenty of other phones in a similar price range that does a lot worse in this regard. I know, its aspect ratio is very uncommon for a mobile phone sensor, but it really isn't fair to call it a "mess" when the image quality is this decent.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2020Mi note 10 with Gcam wipes the floor with any Huawei phone ... moreMi Note 10 with gcam is not stable. Some features on the phone doesn't work, some crashes, and sometimes the stock still gives better pictures.

Ah d*mn, I'm expecting this Honor to have the same photo quality as the Mate 30 Pro since they share the same chipset and the camera except for the ultrawide. It's not on par with it, close but not close enough. I can clearly see the same oversharpening effects as I see from the P30 Pro with the daylight samples. It's a shame really because, on paper, I'm liking this Honor for being a cut-price Mate 30 Pro 5G.

Nowadays, manufacturers, instead of opting a good camera, they are investing in post processing, which is good but not the best. Unlike iPhone, every android phone struggle to capture a image in third party camera. That maybe the issue with Android itself idk. But in my opinion iPhone is still better and stays constant in every possible camera and lightings.

Last year's Kirin 990 almost as good as this year's SD865 in multi-core.
Impressive result probably due to optimizations on the home grown chipset.

Afcourse, no such gcam available for V30 pro/P30 pro /Mate 30 pro.

                          Phew, Finally a review!
It seems you guys were on vacations. And please review so many untouched phones, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7, many Oppo and Vivo phones, Max Pro M2, etc.

As for the phone itself, I'll give this a pass. No 3.5mm, No memory card slot, its just a less utility flagship.

My camera experience with Huawei phones is that they don't have a zero shutter lag mode? Whenever you take a photo, the display freezes for a short time while they probably combine multiple exposures. I think Huawei's default mode is something like Google's HDR+ enhanced, which has a much better low light performance than Google's default mode, but takes ≈1 second. In my opinion all smartphone cameras should have at least two modes: a zero shutter lag mode (comparable to Google's zero shutter lag HDR+) and a mode that takes up to 1 second (comparable to HDR+ enhanced and Apple's night mode). Handheld Night Sight causes blurry photos and takes too long, up to 7 seconds! Bad decision from Google to remove HDR+ enhanced on the Pixel 4.

China's 5g is up and running for example so 5g access is one of the most important considerations (if not the most important consideration) in China. If living in a country without 5g access then the p30 pro or p30 might be better options for people who aren't sensitive to Oled screens

Based from the studio comparison, this phone takes better low-light photo than Xiaomi's Note 10. So much for the 108mp hype.

Gsmarena, there's something no reviewer has tested: Huawei phones always tell you that you should keep the phone steady after you took the photo, so actually the normal mode is already a night mode. You should tell us how the image quality is in extreme darkness when we ignore that. For example Google's Night Sight takes up to 7 seconds (I have measured it), that's too long and often leads to blurry photos. Google's HDR+ enhanced is faster, but also slightly worse.
