Future Leader, 01 Mar 2020So I've to waste my time for this man again.. Well let educ... more1. Meizu used Exynos 2 years ago, they switched to Snapdragon. Actually with VIVO and Motorola you're right but their marketshare is non-existent.
2. You're right that in 2015 they introduced their own 64-bit Soc (two years after Apple) which was an utter flop. From there onward they switched to ARM Cortex designs.
Anandtech:
"The Snapdragon 835's Kryo 280 performance and efficiency cores make use of ARM's Built on ARM Cortex Technology license which allows Qualcomm to make requests to ARM to change some aspects of the architectures of newly released cores and implement these changes exclusively into Snapdragon SoCs. As such the S835's CPU cores were derivatives of ARM's Cortex A73 and Cortex A53 CPU IPs. The Snapdragon 845 being the first SoC to be based on a DynamIQ big.LITTLE CPU organization also undoubtedly suggests that the Kryo 385 CPUs are based on ARM's Cortex A75 and Cortex A55 IPs"
"The Snapdragon 855 is Qualcomm’s first SoC powered by Arm’s new Cortex-A76 CPU core, which we also saw in the Kirin 980. Qualcomm still makes use of Arm’s “Built on Cortex Technology” license, where it requests changes to the CPU IP to be delivered by Arm."
Same goes for SD865's A77 cores.
3. Where's Exynos faster? In Geekbench am I right? :) Show me proof.
4. Apple's A-series are also ARM cpu's in a sense that they license the ISA from ARM but they design their microarchitecture from the ground up. Apple's architectures are far more efficient (and powerful) than anything from ARM or Samsung's Mongoose.
So what is this "narrower transistor" and "efficiency" bullshit? :)
5. I said that both Exynos 990 and SD865 use A55 as efficiency cores which is the truth. You can rename them to Kryo or whatever but the fact remains that it's designed by ARM. Qualcomm exited the custom CPU game 5 years ago.
ARM Cortex A55 was introduced in May, 2017 and so it's in 4th year now.
Efficiency cores in A13 are underclocked? Wow, so are the A55 cores. A13's efficiency cores are clocked at 1.73 Ghz while Cortex A55's are clocked at 1.8 Ghz.
6. With Snapdragon you're right. Exynos 990 has 2x Mongoose M5, 2x ARM Cortex A76, 4x ARM Cortex A55. Kirin 990 is 2x A76 (higher clocked) 2x A76 (lower clocked), 4x A55. So they're not the same configuration.
7. Why? You said that performance cores do not need to be efficient. Please elaborate on this.
8. Yes, Samsung shipped many (budget) phones in 2019 but their flagship sales (which actually make profit) are very very low. Just take a look at Samsung's financial reports and you'll see.
Designing a SoC is the most expensive thing in a smartphone and it costs billions of dollars. Mongoose cores didn't manage to live up to their expectations that's why Samsung killed their Austin SoC crew.
9. Yes Apple licenses the ISA from ARM. I didn't say otherwise.
10. Anandtech is not predicting anything. They reviewed the QRD 865 development phone from Qualcomm and those are hard numbers not predictions.
What screen refresh rate "capability" has to do with GPU performance???
Yes, please accept it that Adreno 650 can't even match the GPU in A12 yet alone in A13. And it's said by Anandtech whose reviewer was an engineer at Imagination so perhaps he has a better knowledge of GPUs than you. :))
Actually it was good fun to read your utter nonsense posts but you may stop now. It's gettig annoying.

higher, 02 Mar 2020The amount of lies and misinformation on this forum is stag... moreBy reading all comments and replies from the beginning I came to the conclusion that is in this conversation you are the person with most lies and misinformations such as no one use Samsung chipset, Qualcomm don't use custom cpu for years and so on. Even you're sucked by one commenter totally.. Hence you have no shame and still replying. Apple using Samsung's display since iPhone X. Not only in Xs. But they're using LG's display since Xs but the demand was low compared to Samsung. Apple do use Samsung's integrated memory, storage and chip in their most of products. From Mac to iPhone. And no one do the design of inner display technology except the manufacturers or one who patent it (mostly the same company). So that might be the notch design you meant to say. Lmao!
Read your own reply again where you made a conflict yourself.
I don't need to tell anything more. You seriously need education.

A Student, 02 Mar 2020Not totally true.. Except Apple and Huawei Samsung do work ... moreSorry but yet another lie. Qualcomm's Snapdragon X60 is manufactured on TSMC's 5nm not Samsung's.
This is from SemiWiki, read and learn:
"Moving from 7nm to 5nm Samsung has disclosed a 1.33x density improvement and TSMC has disclosed a ~1.84x density improvement. Clearly TSMC will have a far denser process than Samsung and with IntelÂ’s 7nm (5nm foundry equivalent process) not due until 2021, TSMC will have the process density lead in 2020."

It's not like Apple don't use Sam... moreThe amount of lies and misinformation on this forum is staggering.
For a fact iPhone XS's only Samsung made (and Apple designed) part is the display. Period.
For a fact iPhone 11 has NO Samsung manufactured parts. Period.
For a fact iPhone 11 Pro has Samsung made (and Apple designed) display and LPDDR4 memory and that's it.
This is quite far from your 40-60 ratio. It wouldn't hurt to do a little research efore posting nonsense.

It's not like Apple don't use Samsung made products. You'll find at least 40-60 % of inner components inside Apple products made by Sammy (memory, storage, displays, inner chips or transistors etc)

Nick Tagataka, 02 Mar 2020Umm.. you say that simply because you don't like Apple and ... morePeople even would like to see how those superior SoCs perform with light years more reach and heavy OS like android or windows home (arm). I'm sure Apple isn't that much brave to put or test anything like that.. Or they would have used MacOS in their pad to properly complete with full PC based tablets (windows).. At least they could had a table version Mac with their so called superior SoCs

Wait, are you actually suggesting that if Apple let Samsung manufacturer their A-series SoC, Samsung might steal the blueprints of them and use them to improve their own Exynos chipset?
