Was a good phone until the Software update was stopped. Also the mandatory xiomi apps sucks with flooding ads. Now had to throw away this for these reasons.

This phone is good but fuck xioami for abandoning software updates. As off today I switched to Galaxy s22 because it has a good discount and premium model. Xiaomi gotten expensive and software is not like before. Even redmi phones are not cheap like before but again this phone worth it's price.

not for the p... moreYup I replaced my Note 8 Pro with a Mi Note 10 Lite, they are pretty similar in many ways but the huge battery and more antural camera colors along the Amoled screen were enough to make this worth the exchange.
I won't get another phone until I have it for a year at least.

not for the pro tho.
And I agree, I own this phone and looking at the Redmi 9 lineup it's not a major upgrade
alltho the Note 10 Pro in terms of feature is pretty much an upgrade to this phone.

This beast sold out unlike the successor Redmi Note 9 and for good reasons.
9 is slightly pricier but didn't improve anything worth replacing the 8.
Even today 8 is still sold as used well and for 2 years at the price for specs it's amazing.
Makes you wonder tf was Xiaomi thinking releasing a note 8 (2021) instead of the big hit note 8 Pro as (2021).

I've use this phone for over 2 years and lately seems like it had difficulty connect to device like home internet and my car dash cam or maybe is it I need to do setting on my phone. I have the latest phone update and the problem still exists. Any advise?

I got mine from ebay from german big electronics reseller "Saturn". They recuce prices often over weekends, so when physical MediaMarkt and Saturn shops close, they reduce prices on certain products. That happened and I got a RedMi Note 8 Pro 128 GB Minearl Grey offered for ~165 Euros. Then I got another Ebay coupon and finally paid 132 Euros including shipping, brand new item, 2 years warranty. What a deal!
I am pretty happy with the phone, but there are two things were I really miss my old Samsung Galaxy S7:
1. The camera does not allow for voice to shoot an image. As I do a lot of photographing and from really strange positions, it is often impossible to use the second hand to click on the trigger button. On my old Samsung I could say "Smile" or "Click" and it would take a photo, That could safe lives in case...
2. The way I get notified from my calendar is somehow worse than with the Samsung. I don't know really why, but for some reasons I often miss notifications from the calendar, while I never had that issue on the Samsung Galaxy S7. Guess its a settings thing and the defaults may not be favorable to my experience. Need to dive into this further.
3. That the USB-C port is apparently only USB 2.0 and not even USB 3.0 or 3.1 or 3.2 is a shame. And so I can't even use a USB-C to HDMI MHL adapter as well, which the Samsung S7 supported. Thats an really odd move IMHO and if I knew before, that could have been my personal deal breaker.
We have now 4 of these in the family and I am pretty happy with it.

Why cant xiaomi make a cheaper phone with great camera and cut corners elsewhere? A camera centric phone.

Kevin, 11 Nov 2020Selfie camera is only 20 MPonly? my first digital DSLR camera had 8megapixels and I could print a poster...people are being fooled by numbers and don't really realize that beyond 5-8megapixels, it doesn't have any impact on the quality of the picture itself, it just helps to crop the image still remaining the sharpness.
