LG V60 ThinQ 5G review

19 April 2020
While we were all expecting a successor to the G8, LG instead announced a successor to the V50. The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is the latest fully featured flagship smartphone from Samsung’s Korean rival. LG doesn’t go quite as hard with the spec sheet as others like Samsung and Oppo, but it also doesn’t go as hard with the price point.

Very solid phone (as with the older V50), save for the brand image and limited service and aftersales support especially in Asia and Europe. The display could have a 90Hz refresh rate, but it's ok because it doesn't cost more than its competitors (without the dual screen accessory, which is a gimmick).

I used to be a loyal fan of LG, mainly because of the 3.5mm jack and the quad DAC. I slowly make the transition form wired to wireless for my daily routine except the times at home, when I want to listen to music more seriously. So, the 3.5 jack is not absolutely necessary for me.
My main disappointment comes from the quad DAC. I bought Creative Labs' X-Fi DAC/Amp and compared it to LG's quad DAC. X-Fi absolutely trashes LG any day of the week. LG's DAC beats every smartphone, but it does not even come close to a dedicated DAC. You audiophiles, by a dedicated DAC/Amp and forget about 3.5mm jack.
On the other hand, the second screen is really great, I used it on a G8X and loved it. This will be V60's main selling point. But not for me, the phone is very, very bulky.
