"4K" UHD = 3840 × 2160
4K = 4096 × 2160
2K is btw 2048 x 1080 (a lot of people often call 2560 x 1440 which is wrong)

[deleted post]"I'm surprised at how much I've enjoyed using this Xperia—so much so that I didn't want to switch back to another phone, which is truly a first for me when it comes to Sony phones."

This is what a 4K HDR display on Sony Xperia can do to you.

Not to mention they test speakers in those video with phones in a stand that covers botom speaker .. what a joke.

That does... moreMobile pentile OLED can 't produce constant whites, they shift continuosly from warm to cold on the same screen when holding the phone straight on. Also, pentile has a much bigger gap between subpixels, has unequal subpixel sizes, and so on. The best thing about it is the packaging, it's super slim compared to LCD and it's a lot cheaper than 10bit LCD.

That does not even begin to describe the rest of all the display aspects.
Oled is so superior on most ways.
And penile helps combat the arrangement. Pentile 4k is still perceivably sharper than 2.5K. Pentile 2.5K is still perceivably sharper than 1080p.

And since when was resolution or sub pixel array the only thing that counted in deciding display quality?

Waiting for this Sony xperia here in SA...if they don't release it here I'll import it...its a must have for me

this could have been perfect for me if it has 90 or 120 refresh rate since it is a flagship phone. Maybe the upgraded version of this will and i can wait for it and hope for more brightness. The fingerprint at the side is much better than in-display and the rest of the features such as expandable storage, 3.5 jack and no notch should be kept always.

Sepfian, 06 Jun 2020So, which one better, this phone's dispaly, I or S20+ ? A typical 4k TV has full RGB resolution of 2160*3840*3 (each pixel has 3 subpixels, Red, Green and Blue), resulting in total of 24 883 200 color dots.

Smartphone 4k OLED hardly surpasses 2k IPS installed in LG G6.
                          Get your calculator ready.
                          Sony X1/X1m2, 21:9 4k OLED = 12 625 920! It's twice less than in a 4k TV.
3840*1644 green, but red and blue are only 1920*1644, = 3840*1644*2

                          LG G6, 2:1 2k IPS = 12 441 600. Surprised?
                          2880*1440 in all three colors = 2880*1440*3

Samsung S20, 20:9, 2k OLED = 9 216 000 dots, and it's this many only because of stretched display. Be it 18:9 it would be less.
                          3200*1440 green dots, 1600*1440 blue and red = 3200*1440*2

                          Sony 18:9 1080p IPS = 6 998 400, very modest
                          2160*1080 in all three colors = 2160*1080*3

Remember Sony XZ Premium 16:9 4k IPS? It has only 16 588 800 dots in total.
3840*1440 was its real RGB resolution, not 2160. Subpixel cheating again.

So, people who say smartphone OLED 4k doesn't differ from real smartpone IPS 2k, are partially right. Because of the ducking Pentile, the real dot count differs from what they claim to be the real resolution.

So far, Sony's 4k is the first real 2k OLED... And it's sad, because Samsung's 2k OLED hardly surpassed FullHD by subpixel density. And they call OLED a superior technology, LOL.

So, which one better, this phone's dispaly, I or S20+ ?

robdevil XI, 06 Jun 2020It is unlocked. All o2 devices are unlocked now.Isn't it by any chance, that ALL carrier branded phones are unlocked in Europe?
BTW I really hate O2 firmware on devices, so much bloatware, ads etc.
But if it's flashing that easy as you say ... no issue then :)
When I tried to flash my Xperia 5, I must say I run into issues of firmwares not being available for every hardware revision.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2020Thats most phones. Especially around or right before release. Most phones have a ton of reviews available when they are released - Xperia 1 II was released, don't tell me only 5 journalists got the phone for a review?
Why there are no more reviews? It is Sony request not to release review with broken firmware? People do not care for Sony (I purposely ignore "vocal minority")?

My only point is that I find it really strange. It's like a seeing Xperia 1 II on the shelf and only tumbleweed passing by.

However this type of thing is normal with them. Plus they literally took your whole comment and ignored all but one part to nitpick at that one aspect.
And even based on what they thought you said they still made an incorrect claim. So it was wrong either way.
Then turned around and said I was missing something for calling them out.
