wifi at home and work, prepaid card-4g disabled,3g only for better voice clarity-the end no need 4 and 5g ever

Shanti Dope, 15 Jun 2020It wouldn't be super beneficial until around 2023 Heck, I ... more” My home internet is just 25Mbps, but that is enough to provide a seamless and strong internet connection already, except for watching 4K videos,”

Your 25Mbps couldn’t handle 4K? When i bought my first 4K TV i thought my 20 Mbps connection propably can’t handle 4K. I was wrong, it worked very well, nowdays i have 100mbps and i really can’t see much difference in daily usage.

Forget 4G, even HSPA+ (3G!) is good enough for streaming in full HD, mind you because that happens to be the de facto resolution of most 6" screens on mobiles these days, and even that is an overkill! (Can you really tell if it's 480p or 1080p feed on a 6" screen?)

For me right now I'm happy using 4g because in my country 5g will be available maybe 4 or 5 years or more. It's all depends on the carrier in my country if their think it's fit to upgrade to 5g or not. So right now I'm happy with 4g & LTE connection & I'm in no hurry to buy any 5g phone's out there as their will dropped price in the future. Everybody's have their own taste & opinions & ideas on 5g. & everybody have their rights in which phones their wanna buy 5g or not.

Many thanks for this very comprehensive article.
One thing that the author(s) has correctly insisted on is that 5G adoption will be much faster than what you think. This is even evident in a country like Iran which has apparently started using 5G towers in a test phase. What was the excuse to do so? Simple: 5G smartphones are present in the country so we (ministry of information and communication) should keep up. So, I assume two years from now is the sweet spot when, for 99% of people, buying a phone without 5G in inconceivable.

It will actually be like 4G over here in Germany. Many people are concerned about China and USA spying on us, people are afraid of getting burned alive by 5g waves, providers are slow on building antennas, cities don't allow them to build antennas anywhere. We end up with barely 3G everywhere. Sometimes not even 4G in big cities. 5G only in our 5 major cities (a.k.a where internationally important people will visit: Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, maybe Hamburg and Cologne). Heck, we don't even have wifi hot-spots in trains or busses. It's not like many people will need 5g since it's "only" data and our data-plans really s*cks over here. But then again all major phones will offer 5g 2021 and people will want 5g ... there's no way around it, 5G is here.

I am from Greece, and I'm wondering if it's a good idea to buy a 5G phone from now (probably Mi 10 lite). We have some pilot networks here, but the auction for the bands has not happened yet (will probably happen this autumn). The main telecommunication company (subsidary of Deutsche Telekom) has already chosen Ericsson for the equipment. The companies are getting ready for the 700mhz band. First 5G networks will probably launch next year. I'll buy a new phone in the next weeks, so I'm asking: Should I buy a 5G phone, even if it will be a little more expensive than planned, or should I save my money and buy a 5G phone in 2-3 years?

GSMA,well done,a great article..Personally I never care about carrier`s overhyped marketing but it`s great to hear what an established tech website has to say on the topic.I do respect your view on the "5G witchcraft".You basically covered all of the aspects and offered many answers to the people who are indecisive about should they get "the new thing" or not...

It wouldn't be super beneficial until around 2023
Heck, I don't even think it would matter that much, unless many people are downloading movies every minute or so
My home internet is just 25Mbps, but that is enough to provide a seamless and strong internet connection already, except for watching 4K videos, so maybe 50Mbps will be good enough for that
But the thing is, most users simply don't do internet-heavy stuff
They just need a stable and reliable connection anytime and anywhere, and for gamers, a low enough but consistent ping of about 10 to 30ms is more than good enough for smooth and competitive gameplay experience

wow. It looks like Huawei Chip has best battery life among 5G phones.
                          I surely will choose it.
I am crazy about battery life.

A good 4G connection is better than a mediocre 5G connection. I get 100-150mbps download speed on my Realme X2 Pro. The Phone has by far the best connection stability, speed & range in the SD855+ Smartphone world. I even get like 400-450mbps on WiFi. As far as I know, the 4G ping was mostly the same as the 5G ping here.

that part about doctors performing remote surgery with 5g is totally false. Remote surgery is usually done with way slower connections. It's not like there is a lot of data to transmit!
It has first been done in 2001! (where was 5g then?)
And even before that they had more primitive remote robots for first aid of soldiers abroad.

Do you know what is not a Reality? Something that is technological cannot create organic viruses like the Coronavirus. It's impossible that something that is made of silicon and emits minuscule radiation waves can do that.
