I wanted to buy it but since it also doesn't have face unlock, I jumped on the OP Nord bandwagon, it's the next best device when it comes to the OS and security update policy.

I wish that my carrier had this phone instead of the regular pixel 4. The pixel 4 was over priced and could compet wish other phones that launched at that time.

The back button isn't on the top, you need to swipe from the sides to go back. And there is no face unlock on the pixel 4a, it has that same fingerprint to are praising just a line below.

If you don't need 128GB and are okay with only 1 day battery life: you get a pixel 4 as cheap as the 4a right now. Better cam + face id + better performance + better build quality + 90hz screen. Of course battery is a deal breaker. Personally I wish the 4a would have been the 4 - since Im stuck on the 4 right now and only need a 4a...

They went in reverse with this phone.
Cons:
#1 REASON I'm selling this phone and going back to pixel 3.. WHY DID THEY FUCK WITH THE LAYOUT FUNCTIONS. why is 'back' in the upper left hand corner instead of the bottom? IT IA NOT POSSIBLE TO NAVIGATE THIS PHONE WITHOUT 2 HANDS NOW. U can't close windows fast.. u need to hold ur finger longer on the screen to get the windows up to close them. Pain in the ass. Who thought this was all a better idea???
Smaller & more slippery. I can't set it ANYWHERE without it falling or vibrating off and slamming to the floor. Case is definitely needed
Face recognition is reverse technology. So anyone can hold a phone up to ur face while it sleeping.. it's.more difficult to do that with a fingerprint. Guys, enjoy ur girl going thru ur phone at night or vice versa. Or a thief etc
Battery doesn't last but less than half a day of ur using it. My pixel 3 lasted all day when new.
Phone runs hot at times
Everything feels so small even at maximum keyboard size that I'm CONSTANTLY typing the wrong words. It's annoying.
Don't buy this phone and hopefully they will get the message. Pixel 3 is the best phone and easiest to use. Very user friendly.

just having a beer, 16 Aug 2020I think many people misunderstand the concept here... This ... moreA friend of mine wanted to buy a compact phone and he liked my Pixel. I advised him to buy the S10e. He says the photos are not really on the same level, even with the multitude of cameras, so kind of disappointed. But for him, the deal-breaker is the missing SD slot.
If I hadn't already had the Pixel, I would've chosen the S10e, was a Samsung fan before. And there are many community firmwares to address the bloat, I've almost never used stock. But after seeing the results from the camera, and the fact that the phone 'just works', it's almost impossible to choose something else.

I own the P3 and there isn't any phone on the market that I can replace it with: compact, water-resistant, excellent camera, decent performance. Even that barely fits into my pockets.
Sure, there are pure benchmarks that look at the individual pixels (dxomark) and decide that some phone are 2-3x times better than the Pixels. But my experience tells me otherwise: I get consistently 80-90% successful shots (the iPhone is similar) while with the other ones I get something like 20-30%. This doesn't seem captured by any benchmark.
I wish someone would make a Pixel-killer, but there isn't one. It's hard not having an SD card slot, notification leds, mediocre hardware, very few accessories, limited software, pretty high price. But I've benchmarked the phone against my midrange DSLR with a midrange lens, and the phone won in almost every situation. It sure is nice not having to carry +2kg on vacation.

I laugh when ppl say that even Snapdragon 7xx are weak.
It is not weak, it is you trying to turn the phone into Play Station 5 or laptop gamer.
All 7xx series are above SD821 performance.
Mine has cpu on pair with 636, never has issues.
Apps do not crash, apps do not freeze nor is slower after all these years.

I think many people misunderstand the concept here... This Pixel phone is not for people that are ready to have huge chunky device, but rather one that will be with them and ready in pocket. I literally mean in a pocket. It will last whole day and charge over the night, so the battery is not a big deal for me - yes, bigger would be nicer, but I can live with it.
This device, is small, has strong basics(good camera, processor and RAM) and it does what I need well. It will have long support and in sale, really good price. I don't need the strongest processor, even the current one is strong enough for me - and I will be changing from Qualcom 835.
If people don't mind bigger phones, there are better options for you. If you want compact phone, only Samsung S10E(samsung is a NO for me) and this one come close. Actually, I would not mind even smaller than this, screen 5.6 and few mm less.
Huawei, or Honor - No play services. Apple - is an Apple no, thanks. I have android and many things bought on Android.
