This silly obssession of having night photos at same quality of daylight, when not real cameras can keep same level of base iso.

      Get rid of punchy tones.

I always think the new phone will be perfect and there won't be anything to get better. But then it comes out and there are still complaints. I have the Note 9 and like it a lot. But I feel like camera performance is worse than when I had the Note 4. Is that even possible? For some reason they downgraded cameras eventually from 16 Mpx sensors and I have just 12 Mpx. With all the AI it still feels like barely a mediocre camera.

          1) No 4k@120fps.
          2) 8k video looks really bad, other manufacturers are doing much better job with 8k.
          3) No night mode for video like we see on Mi 11.
          4) Algorithms for nona-bayer sensor still haven't been optimized enough in one year's time, especially in low light photos.

Hmm, not 10 cameras but one good large censor on the back above 1"

N20 looks blurry at the left.

AnonD-762416, 15 Feb 2021If they'd added a dedicated 2x zoom lens, the writer w... moreThe problem is that unlike some other companies Samsung still doesn't utilise the extra resolution gain from Nonacell nor use any sort of super resolution stacking to improve the digital zoom quality, which means that the image will always look terribly soft below 3x magnification. On top of that, if my understanding is right, S21 Ultra DOES NOT allow you to use its 3x telephoto lens in the portrait mode. Those two shortcomings are pretty fatal for portrait shots - basically the phone isn't capable of taking a sharp photo of a human face while avoiding distortion at the same time (i.e. "zooming in" will get rid of distortion, but then the image quickly turns mushy).

1.7x lens is not relevant in this particular use case because that would roughly equate to 40mm equivalent focal length which isn't very popular for this type of photography, plus no other flagship phone ever had such a telephoto lens.

I have both phones and the difference is almost indistinguishable, there are times the 5x has merits and times the 3x and 10x have them and frankly the biggest upgrade is pdaf on ultra wide, the 108mp are so close I can't tell in pixel peeping

For example, P40/Mate 40 Pro focal length from 1.1x to 4.9x zooming are outstanding quality, barely knows if its using digital zoom or not. Cover a lot of focal length area, working like a kit lens.

Their new phone loses to their old phone which on in itself don't hold a CANDLE against a phone 6 months older than even it. So basically the S1 ultra loses to a flagship from early 20 when it comes to camera performance (huawaei p40 pro plus).

                                Such a shame really.

Note 20 Ultra image processing looks more matured, but the colors? Yuck. S21 color reproduction looks more pleasing, but looks like something wrong with its processing. Two words, oversharp & noisy. A waste really, given how big the sensor size is (for a smartphone).

Are they the best smartphone camera around? Not in my book.

Which model of the S21 Ultra did you test? Exynos or Snapdragon?
The Exynos version had terrible 4k and 8k video recording.
