XS series literally only had a brighter screens and slightly better cameras

Must be the most boring "new" phone launch in living memory. Supremely yawn inducing.

The new iPhone 13 was producing the "same" results as iPhone 12 but at lowered ISO settings. Could be handy in low light situations. However, the details in iPhone 13 night photos are completely obliterated, which is a shame. Really bad.

My sub-$400 mediatek phone takes much better night-time photos with GCam (just wish OIS was present to help, but sadly it is still rare in that price-segment)

I just reread the review and it feels rushed, and a bit shoddy/ with a slight negative nit-picking bias seeping through, absent from the reviews of lesser devices. Too bad, I have generally really liked the reviews here.

Good review. It's really a very solid and well-thought-through device. I am waiting for to see the Pixel before I pull the trigger and decide if I should go back to iOS. I miss it :)

I don't see the foliage issues mentioned. The iPhone 13 shots look more natural than my current Xiaomi's, which is not bad on its own.

Helpful review. The pink color looks great. Like strawberry ice-cream.

Damn, I'm looking at your camera comparison tool and the iPhone 11 looks better in low light than the 13; there's so much processing in action (oversharpening) that shouldn't be done with a larger sensor. Hope they improve it over time because that's a nasty regression.

People who have a 12 or 12 Pro i see no reason to upgrade to this...
                                  13 Pro/Max yes nice upgrade.

                                    "The lens remains the same"
It's not the same lens. The iPhone 13 has a 5.1mm f/1.6 lens, the iPhone 12 has a 4.2mm f/1.6 lens. So, the iPhone 13 main camera lens has a larger effective diameter: 3.19mm vs 2.6mm , so the lens gathers 47% more light per time from objects.

I have access to an iPhone 13 Mini and it lies about the duration of the night mode. I have measured that Apple's "3s" night mode tells you to hold still for nearly 5 seconds. And it takes nearly 4 seconds until the "3s" countdown has ended.
