Most other reputable reviews note shortcomings in the Xiaomi 12's camera compared to flagships like the Pixel 6 Pro, Samsung and the iPhone 13 Pro. Like consistent softness, and night-shots issues. I used to trust your reviews blindly, but something has changed.

as I care about size, photo, battery and price less than 700E, it looks like decision between 12x and S21 FE. Not a big fan on Miui, but better battery life. Is there anything similar coming out in next few months?

I thought Sony IMX766 is exclusive to BBK group phones ... Seems like only the 1st year bbk have that exclusive deal.. after that rest of oem can use it.. interesting.

Sn 888 and 8 gen1 arent bad, just hot. And heat is killing battery. Same as when you are sick, having fever makes you lose all energy. Same thing happens here.

Do you know, what's the biggest disappointment? The battery life of Xiaomi 12 compared to 12X. The phones are nearly identical except for chipset and some insignificant details, but 12X has more than 20 % longer battery time. Well, the new generation of top level Snapdragons is a terrible mistake.

If the process is good enough, the CPU can be tweaked up a few hundred MHz. Do you really think the companies tell Qualcomm or Mediatek "hey, give us 865 clocked 0,2 GHz higher"? That's not how it works.
And another reason - 865 was not 5G, it had to have an external 5G module. 870 has everything in one chip.

At 699 the price is a bit high. Much better if it was around 599 for what it offers.

Xiaomi 12X:
Amazing phone.
Very bad price.
But, this will be the trend for 2022. So, we can´t blame Xiaomi for doing the same as everybody else, I guess.
Do not buy their phones, buy shares of their businesses and take a slice of their profits! If you can´t bet them, join them! At least, it is better than crying and complaining...
Anyway, my humble F3 8/256 was 305€ (Delivery inc.) This one is 2x times or more that so all things considered I can´t say I made a bad choice, because I decided from the start that the camera set was not a priority at all...
A 12 bit display is cool but we still need software support for that. Anyway, the feature is there, and it is a good feature to have.

Honestly, I am very pleased with the camera performance. The foliage rendering is pretty good by phone standards. Sharpening also seems natural by phone standards.

If I compare the same pictures from main lens of 12X and Oppo Find X3 Pro, it means the same chips, it is clear that camera application is still the problem and that Oppo has much better one. Unfortunately because I like Xiaomi but camera is very important for me.

Your A52s has an unimpressive camera performance compared to this device, as expected given the price difference, but also loosing against the cheaper Poco X3 NFC:
