What's the spec of 30W charging of this phone? 15V/2A?
Thanks!

I do think it's ludicrous how many features are just not optional. Very frustrating that regardless of what you're TRYING to focus on, the screenside camera will lock onto any perceived face, and there's no way to turn 'face detection' off, that I can see. I use the screenside camera to take photos of a lot of things that aren't selfies, and yet there's nothing like the level of control you get for the 'main' cameras, which is frankly rather patronising, especially given it's primarily a software issue.

Similarly, the unintuitive mode selection menu, and the number of settings that ONLY seem to have an 'auto' mode is both inconvenient and somewhat inexplicable. I don't want automatic Night Mode Image Processing, I certainly don't want ✨ selfie enhancement✨, and I do not understand why these are not simple - or in some cases POSSIBLE - to disable

I like this phone a lot. I'm happy with it but disappointed with the 60fps video capture. Juddery and without image stabilisation. As stated in the review, the Camera UI suggests you can have optical image stabilisation on with 1080P60 but that's not the case. 1080P30 is much less shaky and juddery. Hopefully Sony will address this...

Nika, 22 Apr 2023If only they equip this display with at least 90hz this wil... moreI highly doubt Sony will put 778G unless Sony brings back the Xperia 10 Plus model. After all, the Xperia 10 Plus ii was meant to have a more powerful Snapdragon 720G chipset compared to the Xperia 10 ii's Snapdragon 665 chipset before Sony scrapped it because of 5G.

As for 90Hz, I don't think it'll transform to better battery life, especially when using an OLED panel.

If only they equip this display with at least 90hz this will be incredible! But maybe for next gen I suppose with at least Snapdragon 778G, good stereo speakers and same price it will be a Perfect midrange!

Phone get hot when using it, many applications shut down, battery very good phone fast, screen very very great, sound loud, had to buy it from Japan since not available in middle East, no theme, no cover, no spare part, wifi recipients are great, screen light nice, music player cool, unfortunately no skitch app, and no albums app I hate Sony for removing it

The sony is a disapointment. My partner wanted a change from hos s10 and currently i have a huawei p40lite. We knew is was a lesser soec but to its vedree its not worth having on the shelf.
Sound amd pixture is really cheap and just embarrasing
Who knows if the bigger one of Sony are better but the price range is definately not competing against thoughs at the same price
He is opting for an Honor 70 instead. Same contract price

I tend to compare phones against my current phone, not the phones it is competing with. I wanted a phone without a selfie camera cut out or notch and I like an SD card and a headphone jack. The Sony Xperia 10 IV was the only phone that had those three.

I am coming from a phone with 60Hz refresh, a slower processor, no 5G etc, so the Sony is a significant upgrade. It didn't hurt that I got it for £100 discount in a pre black Friday event with my network and interest free credit. Affordability is a major factor in my and many other people's decision.

The Sony ticks all my boxes so that is all I ask.

Interesting phone, Sony could've made this a more compelling offer at virtually no extra cost by increasing the memory to 256gb.

Think Sony really missed a chance here. For the price they could have put in a bid a better CPU and camera system. I don't care about the 12MP but from a company that has such a strong photography division I expect industry leading photo quality in their phones. According to the prize class logically.

And their update policy is just amateurish for such a big company. Two year of system and three year of security updates (if that is really true, because elsewhere I read only two years) is a joke for such a solid build phone that can easily outlive double that time.

My current Redmi 3 Pro is 6 years old and now as I installed Mokee it's actually ok as a daily driver. I still wished Sony would have put a better CPU, camera setup and five years of security updates in it. Would have been a rock solid phone for years.

Now I tend to the Pixel 6a and than install GalyxOS or so. Seems to be the best small android option atm. But I just like Sony's form and display more :(

I have a question as you have the direct comparision of the two phones I'm most interested in. Could you please tell me if you've noticed any difference in the connectivity to the mobile network of the 6a and the Xperia 10 IV? Heard the Pixel series have a notorious bad connectivity and as you have the direct comparision with the Xperia 10 IV you might know more in that regard.

Anonymous, 15 May 2022Thank you for the typical Sony fanboy response! Your same &... moreI used to have Huawei mate 10 pro. I totally wore it down, had it in dirty, dusty construction-pants while tiling for years (mind you all the quartz and shit) it had good battery, good sized screen, decent camera, ive dropped it far more times than i can count, 1meter, 2 meters, on pavement, in toilet, no scratches, it had cracks tho, had to pick mortar from the rechargejack several times, it seems it didnt give a shit about my abuse, but it served me well.
After battery went bad i tried other phones, Xiaomi, Samsung, another Huawei. They were garbage, got scratched from just sitting in clean jeanspockets, big screens, bad battery, what they did have though was impressing cameras, some of us have big hands and prefer to use a phone one-handed, prefer durability/quality over features.
You cant have all for 500usd/eur like i did with mate10 pro. But you can for 1000-1500, but then again youre stuck with a brick sized monster.
Ive been praying for a miracle and Sony answered.
Its not at all about fanboys.

It's a compact phone, that's one of it's advantages. Quite strange then to compare it with fullsized phones. If anyone wants a fullsize phone, just buy one...but this phone doesn't aim to compete with them either, so why even compare like that?

Eli, 10 Jul 2022I find it funny how I don't think more then one person... moreI bought 10iv.
                                  My wife bought 6a.
Both of them seem great phones for our type of use. We are happy with them and I think we could trade them between is without major setbacks, but at the end they have some differences and I am glad with my choice.

About Sony, it feels really good on the hand. Love the ratio and the quality of the screen. Love the fingerprint sensor as well. Great design.

If you wonder, my priority for choosing.was:
                                  1. Price and size (I refuse to go higher than 500eur phone. I also refuse to have a tablet on my pocket)
                                  2. Design quality (here I think Sony stands out, even for their midranger. Great design)
                                  3. Software experience (good for sony. pixel does better. Samsung, oneplus, oppos, etc were all excluded)
                                  4. Camera quality (6a also has better cameras, but I am tired of over bright colours. The bad reviews on the Sony are exaggerated imo. I have good photos with it)
                                  5. Performance (I just need it to last some years with a fluid UX. No games, no 4k, just day to day. It's fine)
                                  5. Battery life (I only need it to last one day, however it is remarkable to get to the end of the day in the 60s).

The audio jack, the sd card are good extras.

First time going to Sony. Let's see how it ages.

I had the opportunity to test this phone briefly and the low-performance concern is overly exaggerated.

If you don't mind with standard photographic processing, not taking 4K video (to be honest, rare with any lower mid-range phones), not a gamer and looking for a phone for casual browsing, watching movies, or listening to music/audio with strong endurance then you can consider this phone.

The CPU is good enough while the GPU is standard. The form factor is also lightweight and ergonomic (not too tall nor wide) with nice material despite being plastic.

With the pricing, yes it is slightly on the higher side, but the overall package and experience aren't bad. Don't judge the pricing based on the processor only. I'm struggling to find any similar sized phones (under 7cm in width, and about 15cm in height) with good build quality, OLED 500 nits, MicroSD access, Gorilla Glass Victus, IP65/IP68, super strong battery endurance, and 3.5mm headphone jack (a rarity this day).

Majority of mid-range phones are getting 2 OS updates and 2 to 3 years of security updates. So, Sony is aligned with the industry standard. My pet peeves are three things only (I can live with no 2 and 3 below, but the no 1 is important for longer-term usage):

                                    1) no VoLTE or VoWiFi in some countries with 3G towers will be decommissioned in the not too distant future;

                                    2) screen refresh rate. I've no issue with 60Hz and I can understand their decision of no 120Hz screen (stretch the SoC) but a dynamic 90Hz for that price point would be appropriate; and

                                    3) the speaker. Although this one isn't too pronounced given Sony is experienced enough with sound systems, and they managed to provide a good front-firing with surround effect speaker setup. But it's still a mono, not a stereo setup.
