A charger in the box might help marketing a first time phone.

Not even to A53, despite minor HW advantages that you mentioned, just look at the photo comparison tool. Oh yeah, the glass back, right, good luck with it. I'll only give it credit for selfies where S20 FE clearly sux.
Not that I encourage to go with Sam, just don't confuse peas with pearls.

Gsma testers. Which would you say had the better speaker system? Nothing, or xperia pro-i? I found it hard to decide, because both are extremely low.

Marco M, 25 Jul 2022Better camera HW in the nothing phone, but as far as actual... moreTrue. It is definitely way better on the cropped in lab images. However, for the videos i think it's kind of the other way around. Wouldn't fully judge by the lab images/videos only though as they are useful for detail, sharpness and noise but we also need to see photos in normal everyday conditions to judge things like exposure, saturation, contrast and dynamic range and stabilisation for video. We can also crop in on photos of more distant items in the regular daytime and nighttime photos to see how detail is handled on more distant objects in everyday photos too. Having said that, I would expect Xiaomi to be ahead of Nothing in image processing. They have far more resources and years of experience after all

Tested it for a day. Everything was ok, I really like the futuristic look, but the screen was a dissapointment for me. In sunny conditions it is not enough bright.

Anonymous, 23 Jul 2022Qi charging
- less efficient than wired
- prevents yo... moreI throw on Netflix or YouTube or any content viewing app while on wireless charging (I don't have a rubbish little 10w circle charger for a Samsung or apple phone, I have a 40w Huawei standing wireless charger with built in fan keeping it cool and it also lets you sit your phone sideways and still charge). Or I dunno connect a wireless controller like an Xbox one/series controller and control it from distance/play games. Or wirelessly connect it to a TV/monitor and again watch content/do what you want. I used to just use the screen to to make calls (Bluetooth headphones or loudspeaker) or to reply, unless you put your wireless charger on the ceiling or outside?
Oh and no it wouldn't give you a bigger battery because generally you have lower capacity/2 batteries for faster charging or if again you're apple and some companies, try make device stupidly thin and overheat the SoC. Do you not keep up with devices and the thickness of devices now, you ain't fitting 6000mah in most phones.

Fa14bi, 25 Jul 2022S20 FE: Slightly smaller charging, 1/1.7 camera sensor inst... moreYou claim that s20 FE is not beating the Nothing in any scenario after you just mentioned that Nothing doesn't have a telephoto (which the s20 FE has) and even acknowledge that the chipset is better on the Samsung phone. Aren't those already a couple of scenarios where the Samsung beats the Nothing?
Also, you didn't mention other advantages of s20 FE over Nothing (1), such as better ingress protection, expandable storage, much better video recording capabilities of the front facing camera (better selfie camera overall), USB type-C 3.2, and audio quality is not as bad as Nothing (which even made the reviewers bring back their old test and confirmed the quality is really bad). Those are other scenarios where S20 FE beats Nothing (1).
To be fair, it's more of a "choose your poison" type of dilemma as neither of them beats the other in every and all aspects. But it warrants acknowledging that s20 FE does indeed beat the Nothing (1) in some scenarios.

Anonymous, 25 Jul 2022the npothing phone gets so much hate while it IS the pixel ... moreI have an Motorola one zoom and it suffered the same fate as the nothing phone.
Getting hated on for having a Snap 675.
It does have a main cam with OIS, a Tele with OIS, Aluminium body that feels premium , headphone jack, SD slot, fairly unique design.
Supports Gcam software on all 4 lenses. + The Front camera has a night mode that way.
There still isn't a single moto phone that beats the One zooms camera. And even today on the max 400€ priceclass, like no Phone has a Telephoto with OIS or an Alu body at this price.
Also that Snap 675 in my one zoom does get a better Geekbench than the Pixel 5 does. (But only half on the GPU side) And No Snap 680 stands a chance against it today, can't hold up nowhere in performance and can't even record or playback in 4K) Also ihave USB 3.1 and I did actually resch 380MB per sec data transfer with that.
Sad to see the Nothing phone getting hated like that as well, and a Snap 778G+ ain't actually even bad, but people were expecting like a Dimensity 9000 or Snap 8gen1 inside.

Why needed to copy an iPhone for not having a charger in the box? If it's Nothing at all, a cable is still included without a charger! Should we charged on a computer or buy an unspecified charger? It's not an iPhone, it's NOTHING that should be on top of the market to be fully equipped for a top Mid-Range phone in 2022.

franky1800, 25 Jul 2022This phone is pure marketing, the LED's are cute, and ... moreS20 FE: Slightly smaller charging, 1/1.7 camera sensor instead of 1/1.52 on the nothing phone.
1/3 Ultrawide instead of 1/2.76 while the Nothing has Autofocus on that cam as well.
-The nothing lacks a Tele
Plastic Body instead of Aluminium
Snap 865 vs 778G+ so that goes to Samsung.
Updates until 2024 vs 2025.
This isn't beating the nothing Phone in amy scenario, people are just disappointed that they went with an high Quality phone instead of an high performance packed one with less in build quality.

Nothing Phone has one simple rule - "Everything you need, Nothing you don't"
1. Right out of the box, No charger. -- Sure, phones don't NEED a CHARGER
2. Fancy sim ejector tool. -- You think I gonna NEED that frequently?
3. Where is my Expandable storage? I think I NEED it.
4. 50MP cameras -- It is already proven that 12MP is all you NEED.
5. Poor audio quality even with headphones?
I think you need to change your rule to "Nothing special"

"Outstanding HDR OLED, 120Hz, superb color accuracy."
What the hell? how does that fit together.
"The Nothing's official page mentions 500 nits of typical brightness and up to 1200 nits of peak brightness. Our display measurements captured 462 nits of typical (manual) brightness and 663 nits of maximum (auto) brightness."
the display is 40% darker than advertised...
Independently of this false advertising, is a maxium of 663 nits a joke these days...
