You forgot to mention one another compact phone: Motorola edge 30 neo. The cheapest of all, and very capable phone. 120 Hz 10bit Oled, lightweight, good battery, etc. for under 250 €.

Hello everyone, I've had this phone for a few days and I'm wondering after searching all over Google, if anyone knows how to avoid the mirror effect with the selfie camera, that is, the front one!! Because I can't find a way and they all come out the other way around, thank you!!

This phone is perfect for me now, i got one right on time. Because al child diseases this phone had in the beginning. Has been taken care off... I have no more overheating issues since the last two patches. So people who blind starring at that, needs to look further or had no Xperia 5 IV at all. Just a perfect phone now...

mathew7, 07 Jun 2023Just bought this phone and noticed how bad is the wired sou... moreCorrection, now it sounds better. Guess something got stuck in SW and kept the speaker tune when plugging headphones.

Just bought this phone and noticed how bad is the wired sound. It's like the tune for the speakers are put on 3.5mm and USB DAC (strange for USB, but same USB DAC and headphones sound as expected on a PC).
On BT headphones I did not notice it (coming from Galaxy S10e, with all: BT, 3.5, USB DAC). Can't find any other options to pass it unaltered to DAC (I listen to flat EQ and turn off any procesing except for volume level, but it just sounds weird).

flagshipper, 10 Mar 2023Xperia 5 has wireless charging, which is great, as it gives... moreThe best feature of this phone is the fact that it has 100% screen usability. No need to have dumb over-priced underscreen camera and pop-up camera.
Too bad that Sony is not a big smartphone company so most of their phones are kinda expensive since their phones are more like a side project for them.

Xperia 5 has wireless charging, which is great, as it gives you 2 choices of flagship sizes, finally.
No notch, sdcard, jack, notification light - a great collection of features people want but manufacturers don't give.
One thing that makes me hesitate is the software/productivity. It's quite opposite to OneUI and Pixel. Closer to ColorOS. Too simple. There's side feature and smartstay (excellent, better than Samsung version). But that's it. I can't even extract text from the screen, or control camera with voice. I'd love some of the Pixel features here.

This review asks, rhetorically, "Is there really something missing on the Xperia 5 IV?," implying that is has no shortcomings. The review then overlooks Sony's terrible update policy.

In reality, you get two years of updates and maybe one extra year of security updates. And that's just guessing on Sony's past practices, because Sony has no clear publically stated policy for this phone. Sony also tends to be very slow with monthly security updates.

This squarely puts Sony in dead last position. Everyone else is offering four and five years of updates now.

What's the point of a beautiful, super expensive phone, that's going to be obsolete and unsupported practically right after you bought it?

This thing is garbage do not buy!
Got this thing for work I have a massive amount of calls I need to make every day with cliënts about medicine etc and the antennes are so bad I couldnt have 1 normal call a day.

Full signal doesn't matter calls just cut out or completely drop.
Atm on a cheap flip phone and its better.

I'm coming from a S21 Ultra which was a nice phone.
The Xperia 5 IV is however a pure joy to take photos with. All the action photos I was missing on the Samsung, I've been getting effortlessly on the Sony. Its just so quick, even in the basic mode and then if you want more, you have up to 20fps. Its so good at focusing on your moving target. Then, if the little dog is a bit far in the distance - just tap him on the screen and no matter where he goes, the camera tracks him. I find the layout quite intuitive with everything on hand to adjust. I like to tweak light balance and its right there, etc. I watched some of the tutorials online and got some great ideas what I can do with all the manual settings. This is the camera phone I've been wanting for years.

Considering that Sony doesn't make a bespoke vapour chamber cooling system, unlike Realme GT2 Pro/Explorer Master, I'm genuinely impressed with the battery performance. It's only one hour off from the Realme GT2 Pro that has a bespoke vapour chamber cooling system specifically made for that phone.

Sony never compromised the quality, That's make it different

DBS, 30 Sep 2022"one of the most compact Android flagships on the mark... moreS22 is far from flagship.

it's a shame that Sony didn't put the 8+1 processor, but it chose the wrong solution, the simple 8/1, the very one that overheats and reduces performance by half is unjustifiable, for me I would wait the year next with the latest 8+1 chip and I hope that Sony will install an effective cooling system because if you buy a flagship product you must be able to use the smartphone fully to heat up the processor without risk

DBS, 30 Sep 2022"one of the most compact Android flagships on the mark... moreIt would definitely be nice to have a more compact phone than this, but this is the least wide 2022 phone available, which is the important factor for many people when it comes to how compact a phone is, so in the marketplace it's what counts as compact these days sadly. A shame that Apple dropped the mini.
