Sony Xperia 5 IV review

it's a shame that Sony didn't put the 8+1 processor, but it chose the wrong solution, the simple 8/1, the very one that overheats and reduces performance by half is unjustifiable, for me I would wait the year next with the latest 8+1 chip and I hope that Sony will install an effective cooling system because if you buy a flagship product you must be able to use the smartphone fully to heat up the processor without risk

DBS, 30 Sep 2022"one of the most compact Android flagships on the mark... moreIt would definitely be nice to have a more compact phone than this, but this is the least wide 2022 phone available, which is the important factor for many people when it comes to how compact a phone is, so in the marketplace it's what counts as compact these days sadly. A shame that Apple dropped the mini.

"one of the most compact Android flagships on the market"

This is parroting a marketing LIE.
The Xperia 5IV is NOT a compact Android flagship AT ALL. Heck, the thing is BIGGER than the S22 and iPhone 13 Pro. Stop deceiving your readers by pushing along Sony's deceitful marketing.

I think Sony is less about gimmicks. You want reasonable cameras, memory card and wired headphones for monitoring or listening, 4k screen and bt. 2020 colour support it has it.

With Apple and Samsung wireless and onboard storage only although you can use an external ssd with the Sony and Samsung for mass storage if necessary.

AnonD-871277, 11 Sep 2022Exactly like the side mounted fingerprint sensor, first 4K ... moreI agree with you, Sony is expensive !! its smartphones are sold at Apple or Samsung ultra prices so compare them with its 2 brands, Apple and Samsung before buying but Sony is directly losing by using an old chipset compared to its competitors, they should have used the 8 + 1 but already they release their Smartphones late with only the 8/1 chip so if they would have used the 8+1 their Smartphones would be released 1 year later...

Kara Murat, 13 Sep 2022Hello man , I saw your video on Youtube and did you notice ... moreAs far as I know, those phones dont do the most demanding HDR 4k 120 fps video. That is why Juan picked those others for test.

And it goest to show, other phones either close the viewfinder screen, or drop video frames per second to not overheat and last for longer while recording...
Xperia 5 II records for some 8 min, but is consistent to 120 fps and screen viewfinder on.
Thats not bad, on account of consistency of end product.

if the pricing is real then this is an expensive phone $999 for 128gb/8gb and its not even using the SD8+Gen1 which a bit better than the vanilla SD8en1.

Would be perfect smartphone if they have used a sd8 + gen1 chip. I don't understand why they used this old sd8 gen1 which heats up quickly. Anyways I have Xperia 5 mk2 and it is fantastic

but as this includes the convenience of wireless charging like my 1 ii, i might compromise with its smaller size...

It's also very well made and I have two members of my family who's phones are struggling and not working well after a couple of years of use(Samsung and haewai) they both want my phone when I upgrade to this newer model.....

I am goining to skip the 5 iv ,I have the 5 iii since January too early to replace....I am a keeper of my third and last X2 Compact the other two gone , robbery and the other speaker failure connected to the mother board keep it for spares ,what I want to see on the 5 v is the same as Iphone 14 pro Satelite comunications and 48 mp sony's cameras embedded with the next or alrady existed second generation quolcomm 2 sensor (4nm) , My earlier comment was about the 1 mm narrower body ( huge impact on my woman hands ) square sides is great great great to hold, ennhanced battery capaity and huge improvment on my dim dead xperia 5 iii screen brigthness

Time for celebration Sony , at last ONE MILIMETER NARROWER , 5000 battery , 50% brighter enough said

I'd have gotten this over my S22 Ultra 512gb In a heartbeat if this was was available in my country. I actually would use the 3.5mm and micro SD card slot. I still use my LG V60 over my Samsung quite often . This would be a dream for me.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2022Yup. Controller is the same but pixel field is swapped out.Yeah, that would make much more sense than the other person's over-the-top "The tele camera is actually using a type 1/1.5 sensor with 70% of its sensor area wasted for absolutely no reason" theory.
