still octa-core, we expect Hexa core. I phone using Hexa core from the beginning.

Look how poor noise handling is in this sample. On the left side it's really noisy

Check the ghosting in this sample. Look at "F6" or "]". Very bad, unpleasant blur

This is a typical issue with Pixels and they haven't fixes this for generations.

Sony XZ1 was the last great compact on Android space. I wish they did something like that again.

Compact flagships should be contemplated by all majors as many of us are barred from buying one only because of lack of one available for smaller size yet full top specs irrespective of price tag.

Google still makes the ugliest phones in the market (rear look of it at least). This particular one reminds me that Futurama cartoon character. Ugly as hell!

Anonymous, 30 Oct 2022Don't underestimate Zenfone 9 battery life and don... moreI dunno what you do with your phone but I actually use my phone through the day. It doesn't just sit idle for 24 hours. When I'm sleeping the phone is charging and that is the only long period of time where the phone sits idle. Thankfully with Google's AI, my phone only sits at 80% charge and only hits 100% when I wake up. I don't understand people's fascination with how good a phone will do when Idle/in standby. The only numbers that matter should be how well a phone will do when actually in use.

Comparing phones battery performance by using their idle/standby time just doesn't make a lot of sense. That is like buying a car and letting it sit in a garage and telling people how amazing it is if you don't actually drive the car. Or buying a laptop and saying how good the battery life is when it is in sleep mode.

While I was initially disappointed with the 7s battery results on reflection I do feel it did quite well considering it has a large screen and runs 90hz.
I was comparing it to an iPhone 13 and 14 which obviously do better but they are much smaller phones running 60hz screens. I do also have a theory that because Apple uses such small batteries when they degrade slightly after a year or two the performance drop off is much larger.

I would love to have seen the Pixel 7 with a Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 (or whatever it's called) as the Tensor chip obviously is a bit power hungry just like Samsung phones. It will be really interesting to see how the 7a does but I'd imagine that will get the older camera sensor.

The sales figures speak differently though as the Zenfone 9 has very terrible sales numbers while the Pixel 7 series have been one of the best selling pixels to date. If you're happy with the Zenfone 9 then great! I'm glad you found a phone you like. You really don't have to resort to insulting people. Just debate professionally.

I am just wondering what if this pixel 7 would use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 for exemple ! Instead of this tensor g2 ? It would be a fantastic cellphone ! Why mainly because of the modem use by Qualcomm is the top of the line !

The only real reason I'd go the zenfone is it's more compact design but that isn't enough for the extra coin imo

It doesn't make much sense that Google doesn't use its 12 megapixel 2x zoom setting with 1.2 micrometer pixels at night (my experience with the 7 Pro). Yes, 3 megapixels have less read noise than 12 megapixels and the "2x camera" has a Quad Bayer color filter array, but otherwise its specs are not bad for a 2x camera: 18mm² sensor area and f/1.85 OIS lens. For example, the iPhone 12 Pro had a 2x camera with a 12mm² sensor and f/2.0 OIS lens.
The 7 Pro even doesn't use its 12 megapixel 2x zoom setting, when you focus on a bright object in low light conditions.
