If you want to talk objectively, I can give you that.

OBJECTIVELY an expensive purchase displacing another expensive purchase is a good thing, it saves you money and makes the device you spent premium cash on a more versatile package in having a headphone jack. OBJECTIVELY SD cards are not dead. There are devices being released in 2022 which can take advantage of the standard, and there are new SD cards being released, such as a 1.5TB one released earlier this year. MicroSD cards are also fast enough for shooting in 4K 60FPS, which is really convenient for something you can pop out and pop into an editing machine easily. OBJECTIVELY Motorola offers a comparable active pen experience to Samsung, and there's not much you can do on a Samsung that you can't also do on a Motorola just as well if not better. OBJECTIVELY Sony makes performance phones which can also keep up with Samsung in cameras, display, speakers, performance, and battery life. OBJECTIVELY Samsung phones aren't scientifically better than any other android phone, and they certainly aren't the best in all categories. Need I go on? If it works for you, great. I'm not judging your purchase. But, don't make claims about something being the best in a product category where there is no one size fits all, because every user has unique needs and priorities.

A pretty detailed and interesting long term review.

I've used a few brands apart from Samsung for a while, and I have to agree, that Samsung (flagship) phones really are the benchmark. One single feature each, from camera, to speed, to design etc, i other brands would beat Samsung, for sure. But, as an overall package, Samsung does deliver the absolute bang for the buck. Especially considering the after sales, and updates too.

Plus the continued use of the S Series and Ultra design langauge is great. It's like Mercedes or BMW continuing their design langaugez with improvements, each year.

This should not, in any way, let Samsung off the hook for improving on its 2 zoom camera sensors, as well as improving low light and the anti reflective costing on its camera lenses. Samsung needs to work on that. And it's Imaging Sensor Division and the Smartphone Business need to discuss their requirements and work on strategies together. And more efficiently. Hint: Triple and Quad Gain, and bigger pixels.

PhoneFreak45, 25 Nov 202250% of people not caring about a feature doesn't make ... moreYou disagreeing with what objectively is reality doesn't mean reality isn't reality.
SD Cards are dead. Have been for years. Get over it. I wouldn't mind a headphone jack, but the lack of one has made me splash out on a better quality dedicated portable music player. I do not regret "wasting" money on that.

Objectively, the FULL Samsung Ultra package simply covers A LOT more than any other brand can match, and Samsung does it all exceptionally well. They are the impossibly high bar for all other brands to reach. Git Gud, Sony. You haven't delivered anything sensible in over a decade.

Nameless, 25 Nov 2022No doubts it is a fantastic phone. Even if I dont like the ... moreI have S22 Ultra 8GB version it's very sufficient for me but I like the S pen and I use it often, sadly the phone is so expensive, so therefore for me personally I would have liked a S22 Ultra Lite or something. Much likte the Note 10 Lite, all the S pen features but with a flat screen and much cheaper. I don't need top of the line specs, I need the S pen. A lite version would have been nice from Samsung.

I would like to ask which version of the Ultra reviewer has. Snapdragon or Exynos? Because I had one with Exynos for a few days, I can describe details reproduction on photos and RAWs from that phone far from impressive. I mean both from RAWs outputs - from stock app and ExpertRaw. :( Anyways, waiting for S23 Ultra, as this one should have snapdragon globally.

S22 is much worst then S9+ on camera. Really.

Like I said there is no best. Also I don't even feel like addressing the statement that Samsung is "objectively" the best phone brand 🤦🏽‍♀️

As much as I Like Sony's natural processing for photos, and it does have an Sd slot and headphone jack, those are things that most of users don't give a s#it about. My S10 is running on the third year and not even a single time I've needed to put a SD in it, as for the wired headphones, I lost the ones that came inside the box and after jumping to wireless I never looked back.

fastanddubious, 25 Nov 2022Crybaby 😂😂😂I'm so sorry, my apologies for not agreeing that Samsung is the best. I should correct my actions immediately.

This review somewhat annoys me. Using language like "utilitarian" seems a little off for a phone with not much for features people using this phone for utilities may actually use, such as a card slot or headphone/mic jack. That's a pretty small thing though. Where I disagree with this reviewer is in saying that this is "the best phone period." A Sony's gonna serve you better for always shooting in manual mode, which a lot of creators do. An ROG or Red Magic is gonna have much better gaming performance and sustained performance. A vivo is gonna have astronomically better night mode (didn't mean to make that pun). A Xiaomi or a Moto or a OnePlus or a Vivo.. and the list goes on, is gonna have exponentially faster charging. A moto's gonna have a better desktop mode. A Sony is gonna have a better audio experience, thanks to that headphone jack. I'm by no means saying this phone is bad. I'm just saying that it's not the best, because there is no best. If any of the feature categories I mentioned above are more important to you, those phones are gonna serve you better. I'm tired of reviewers using language like "best." There is no best. Not for everybody. Phones are not one size fits all gadgets. Not everybody is gonna be best served by an S22 Ultra.

No doubts it is a fantastic phone. Even if I dont like the design with sharp edges. S21U was much more handsome in this regard. BUT, S22U is way too bulky and large. I wish Sammy had one smaller with 6.5" screen. I wish they had midranger S22+ with better camera setup, closer to S22U.
