ashrobb, 27 Feb 2023Wow, how are they getting that sustained performance from t... moreIt got really hot to the point it's uncomfortable to touch. BBK's approach is better throttling the chip a little bit to strike a balance of sustained performance & thermals for longevity.

Xiaomi is being careless with software optimization nowonder it showed the overheating notification. Previously MIUI would have closed the app terminating the CPU Throttling Test like in previous Xiaomi phones. But Xiaomi would sacrifice thermals & longevity for numbers even when the phone is unusable after the test due to it being too hot to touch, that's kinda careless but hey Xiaomi will always be Xiaomi! Never Again Xiaomi #NAXiaomi

Kostas Gangstar, 24 Mar 2023Is Gorilla 5 over Victus really a con? I removed the screen... moreIm in same dilema. Can't stand curved screens so my choice isnt big. I change my phone every 3 yrs so I would like good chipset and battery I would like bigger phone like s23+ but for the price and what is offering is really bad at least right now. Xiaomi 13 looks like good substitute but I worry about software support. In my country Xiaomi 13 is 800e but I can get small s23 for 700e,yet for s23 I need to buy charger and case so it comes the same. I will probably wait for Xiaomi prices to drop like they allways do.

Is Gorilla 5 over Victus really a con? I removed the screen protector and didn't notice any scratches on a G5 phone and even on this current G3 Redmi Note 11 which I dropped a few times and only the plastic frame got a little damaged and btw I also don't use a case. Meanwhile I never had a Victus phone but read that S23 gets scratched with it's Victus 2 but not sure if that's a legit claim. Anyway G3 and G5 are already very great and definitely not a con in my opinion but the price here in Europe is definitely big at 999€ and retail stores have the 8GB ram version instead of 12 in my country right now. It's expensive in online stores too but I already see one store selling for 780€ despite the phone just being released here and if the phone follows the path of last year's Xiaomi 12 then it might drop around the crazy price of 400€! but maybe the store wants to get rid of those crappy sd8gen1 portable stoves as fast as possible lol, if it goes to 500€ atleast by next year then that would be super affordable price for the killer specs you get. Even S23 and OnePlus 11 are around 700€ here right now and the cheapest sd8gen2 but like I said Xiaomi 13 is brand new here and it can already be found for 780€ and in my opinion is better than OnePlus 11 and the S23, I fell in love with the design and flat display and small symmetrical bezels while I'm used to MIUI for years and never had 14 which is supposedly better than 13 so that's great and from what I've seen it doesn't thermal throttle like S23 or OnePlus 11 which is stuck with 60 fps in games if I'm not confusing it with another OnePlus phone and the curved screen is gross and the back looks awful but S23 has a similar design to Xiaomi 13 with a flat display and small bezels and is a little lighter but smaller which I honestly don't know what to think about because I used to like small screens but also didn't mind the big screen of my Redmi Note 9 Pro and Poco X3 Pro and going to 6.1 might be bad but I don't mind the current season of my Redmi Note 11 which is a little smaller than Xiaomi 13 and has a big chin that I would prefer to not have. Another great sd8gen2 option is Redmagic 8 Pro which is still not available here and white it has a beautiful square screen without a notch it's a bit heavy, I didn't exactly hear good things about the software I'm redmagic and since the display is square id prefer if it wouldn't have curvy corners for that maximum zero pixels lost experience xD

I am really sorry to see that many of you share my opinion, that these phones are overpriced as hell :( I am strugling to find any good alternative to my recently bricked p30 pro, because anything under eur 1000 has significant downsides... It looks like we are getting more and more unnecessarily powerful soc-s, and easy to sell ultra hyper pro plus marketing bullshit, but no real progress on battery life, camera, durability, reliability, repairability, etc.

I got one on Friday. I really want to like it. It's fast, battery life is great, the screen is excellent.

But it has so many bugs.

It's difficult to select ring tones, always on display doesn't work in a dark room, and Google Pay won't work unless it's selected manually each time I'm in a shop.

I'm going to send it back. Not happy that I paid 1000€ for a less than fully functional device.

It's a good phone but the lowlight camera performance leaves a lot to be desired. Very poor for this category of phone. It's miles worse than even the honor v30pro from years ago in the same lowlight scenes here e.g. the scene with the Roca building in the background. Very disappointing and it shows the lack of progress being made in terms of photo quality
