Anonymous, 19 May 2023Moto are releasing many interesting phones since last year.... moreProbably more of a money issue. They will make more money out of brands like Xiaomi that have more fans and get more hits than the smaller brands. Looking at hits on gsmarena it's Xiaomi and Samsung that dominate. This is a business that exists to make money and pay salaries. It's important to keep the big companies, like Xiaomi happy as well as they work with them and want to continue to work with them in the future.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Moto are releasing many interesting phones since last year.... moreThey write long term reviews for that kind of reason and they cover Xiaomi phones somewhat regularly, and each time they blame Xiaomi for lack of regularity in software updates.
Should they mention it more often in normal reviews? Absolutely.
Are they Xiaomi fanboys? I really don't think so. I just wish they would do more long term reviews on lesser known brands. They did it with the Asus ZenFone 9 a while ago for example but we need more of that. Each time I read a Xiaomi long term review I feel like I already know what is going to be said.

I like it a lot. The phone has flagship features at a low prince. The only thing I dont like it's the mediatek chip. I dont trust it but maybe Im wrong. I dont want after a year my phone to be slow.

Curved display ends are anti consumer practices sugarcoated with the "asthetics" like bro you can make phone beautiful in more than 10 other ways .

Why you make curved edge phone which SHALL shatter once i drop them. And then you ask us 100 dollars for repair ?

GSMArena rarely even provides software updates news for xiaomi (doesnt mean Xiaomi not provide software updates) you can go to a web like xiaomiui.net to check it out.

                              8020 we can say a midrange & 7200 a flagship.
MediaTek is fooling costomers with such naming.

That look awful. One bump os good, why not make the island fat and get the circular camera bump off?! Ugly and wobbly. design language is boring.

Anonymous, 19 May 2023Moto are releasing many interesting phones since last year.... moreWhat matters is how good the phone works. I don't give 2 cents on Google's updates because most of the time are just useless. I still have a Red Mills with Android 7 who's working just fine, like the his first day.
All this hype about monthly updates is just a gimmick because every developer is doing updates in security/functionality for their own app.
Google barely make their phones working properly and you have the audacity to ask for monthly problems.
Miui updates are far more important and useful for the Xiaomi users than any Android. By the way: what are Android updates if not a function stealing from other OEMs?!

Fa14bi, 19 May 2023I just tried to find how to open app out of Samsung AoD and... moreThe feature is very well hidden but you can get notifications on the lockscreen in OneUI.
Settings>Lock screen>tap on the phone that says Lock screen EDIT>
On the new screen, you will see a sample layout of your lock screen.
There are 3 options for notifications - None/Icon/Details.
You want the last one - this one would show notifications and you can tap to open the app that sent them.

Moto are releasing many interesting phones since last year.

Unfortunately these days GSMArena just turned into hardcore Xiaomi fanboys who I never see writing about the problems of MIUI on their reviews (so perhaps it's just the users who spread fake rumors about MIUI, uh?), that it has bugs as well as their not so strong software support. A flagship from last year like the Xiaomi 12 got MIUI14, yes, but even quarterly updates are difficult to be seen. Meanwhile, Samsung and Google keep their midrange as well as flagship phones updated monthly, and OnePlus is slightly behind but still a lot better than Xiaomi. Huawei are still releasing security updates each 2 months at max for their P30 series (a phone from 2019), how about that?

But when you read a Xiaomi review in GSMArena the software opinion is all bells and whistles. The "software support" part is rarely even mentioned.
More importantly than what a company says about the software support they will (or won't) provide, is to check if they actually deliver on that promise, during the months and years that pass since that model was released.
