Nicolas F, 03 Jun 2023Lol, regarding smartphones - yes, "everything is about... moreYou are very out of touch then. Most smartphone users don't care and don't even know about their phones specs. You and me and the people on this site sure do care. But the majority of people just buy something either cos it's within their budget and looks cool or has been influenced by good marketing. Among my friends family and work circle you will hardly find anyone who even knows which version of Android their phone is running, much less what processor or screen resolution or display type. That's just how most of the world is really.

Dave S., 07 Jun 2023I read somewhere else that it will get 3 years of software ... moreDid Motorola release official statement regarding software update? Wait, even if they made official statement they can still make a u-turn like what they did for the Edge 20 series a few years back. In a nutshell, Motorola still not trustable regarding software update policy.

I read somewhere else that it will get 3 years of software updates, and 4 years of security updates. If that's true... that's good for a Motorola phone!

Any mention of how Moto will handle software updates?
        2,3, years or more?
        How prompt will updates come?

Motorola is selling this phone out, even in China, in spite of all the complaints I see on this forum. Quite funny. Moto is laughing all the way to the bank!

just a smile, 05 Jun 2023How can Motorola have horrible battery life here despite us... morePoor heat management

How can Motorola have horrible battery life here despite using a TSMC chipset?

"And while this feature only worked with an appropriate USB-C to USB-C cable in the past, you can now make the connection using Miracast, which most modern TVs, monitors and PCs support nowadays."

Not really. It only has USB-C 2.0, so it doesn't support wired Ready For. Last year's RAZR 2022 has USB-C 3.1 with video output, so it fully supports wired Ready For. I found that a shame since the Razr 40 Ultra's battery endurance rating is a solid improvement over its last year predecessor.

Small Battery, Mediocre Charge Time, and Throttling on CPU Stress test?? What a Mess!!! How can Motorola justify a High Price? How do they just let those things go?

I mean what is up with that 6.9" inner display! How much bigger will phone screens get! For someone like me who's got small hands, I'll be better off with a samsung z flip.

Anders, 01 Jun 2023Pros... "Great main display with a rather unobtrusive ... moreYep, it just shows the low integrity of the reviewers, writers, and editors. I also spotted another big lie or inaccuracy within the article:

                                  " The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset isn't the best 2023 option around since it's just a rebranded Snapdragon 778G chipset "

That is not true at all. The QC 7g1 firstly is a discontinued chipset, it basically wasn't released, and is super-rare to find. That is because it is a cutdown version of the QC 8g1, which was a flawed chipset (expensive, barely faster, uses more energy, thermal throttles). It was more inline with QSD 780G which was also a flawed chipset. It was akin to the QSD 888 chipset we saw several years ago. The running theme is that they both were built by Samsung Foundry.

Meanwhile, the QSD 778 is labelled as a tier below both of those chipsets. However, unlike the others it is actually a well designed chipset, and it is built by TSMC Foundry. It doesn't thermal throttle, and it runs pretty fast (between QSD 855-QSD 870 level). I would've preferred that Motorola gave a further discount, and used this chipset instead, technically and theoretically inferior, but superior practically and in real-world use. And have a bigger differentiation between their two devices. Or even better is if they just stuck to using one variant, kept the price competitive, and gave us the flagship chipset (QC 8g2), in this way it is easier for the company to focus on quality and software for long-term support. This currently feels like the worst of both worlds.

Syn, 03 Jun 2023These phones are not meant for people who care about specs.... moreLol, regarding smartphones - yes, "everything is about the specs sheet"; that's the whole point of their existence.

If the outer screen was 4.5/4.7' I could have considered it. The flip design are turning to be tremendous

Well, I love Motorola and I loved their original Razr from almost two decades ago - that was a futuristic feat of superb design and technology.

That being said, this 2023 Razr "ultra" is far from any kind of flagship performance (old-ish SoC, tiny 2.55" sensor, no tele, poor battery life) that it actually damages the reputation Motorola once gained through its original Razr from 2005.
