Lord of Good Phones, 01 Jul 2023Sorry, I don't use Apple. But my Apple fan friend told... moreThe longest iPhone ever supported so far is just the 6s, from iOS9 to 15. The rest are 5 years or less. That's for major OS update. After that, they might get security updates, but like I said, the stock apps including Safari will be stuck with the last iOS version it got. Meanwhile, even an old Android 7 phone can download the latest Chrome browser from the Play store.

Also Asus phones are pretty average/bad in terms of software support, compared to bloatware phones like Samsung.

Yes, Samsung bloatware sucks, but still offers overall better experience compared to devices like Asus Zenfone.

Zenfone 9 & 10 just feel to me like Fan Editions of a much more capable phone (that doesn't exist). ASUS sadly seem to be better at removing or denying features than adding them. Compared to the 8, they've removed a whole load of useful features and added gimmicks (I include wireless charging in that - it's a gimmick).

This reviewer put in a lot of effort to miss the main point of this phone, namely that there is nothing (other than the S23) in the Android space offering the same specs in that form factor, instead suggesting alternatives such as a much bigger phone, a two year old phone, or a 40% more expensive phone. Sad.

Lord of Good Phones, 01 Jul 2023If software updates is the most important to you, get Apple.False assumption. Right now, Android actually have better overall software longevity than iPhones, especially Samsung.
iPhones get ~5 years of OS upgrades, but then that's it. Even if it still gets security patches, it won't get anymore updated stock apps, including Safari. In contrast, an Android phone, even after being abandoned by its OEM, will still get the latest browsers from the Play store and get Google Play System updates that might bring new features (eg. nearby share).

As such, Samsung is basically the gold standard now. Not only it has the longest software support in Android world (even longer than Pixel), it enjoys the benefit of Android like I mentioned above.
