OnePlus, don't be shy. Just use the Dimensity 8200 instead, and improve the camera setup.

Xiaomi 13T is still better than this specs-wise, and it's still cheaper. Formerly the 13T, now the 13T Pro is still a "flagship killer" in GSMArena.

Did they add EIS for 4k video recording yet or is it still lacking that important feature?

The quality of the photos is terrible, although at first they seem good. However, when magnified to 1:1, there is an embarrassing lack of detail. I carefully compared the photo quality between my new OnePlus Nord 3 5G and the 7-year-old OnePlus 3T, taking photos of the same objects in the same conditions in all modes and resolutions - the results are devastating for the Nord 3, despite its 50 Mpix, while the 3T has only 16 Mpix. The first suspicion was that the JPG compression they used was too strong, although the size of the output files did not indicate this. Hence, I decided to also test the RAW photo mode in Pro mode, which, to my surprise, showed an even worse appearance, apart from low image detail - unacceptably uneven image exposure, with significantly greater brightness in the center and 50% darker edges, while in 3T they were almost perfect. Processing RAW photos from Nord 3 in e.g. Photoshop is a pain.
In addition, OxygenOS 13.1 in the current release, i.e. September 2023, has a lot of errors, e.g. when using an additional account/user and functions of the cloned system, various phone settings shared between users and the cloned system stop working properly after a few days of use ( e.g. they are stored incorrectly and after restarting the phone some different values come back).
If it weren't for these issues, I would describe the Nord 3 as great.

BT takes ages to connect to my car. 3 years old Xiaomi 9se much faster and smoother. It's a disaster if you have 2 BT devices, on auto may not connect at all.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2023Well..from the UK the Oneplus Nord 3 is retail at £499. ... moreI love you.
I broke my OnePlus Nord 2 and it was a really difficult decision, which Smartphone for this price, because phones didn't get much better for this price in this time. I saw the same points as you, and bought a Motorola edge 40. Ich hope it will arrive tomorrow. As you said, the biggest problem for me is the SoC. If they had built in the Dimensity 8200, it would be a killer. I paid for it 399€. I hope this was a fair price.

Well..from the UK the Oneplus Nord 3 is retail at £499.

For that price it’s going up against some other brands/handsets well known in the UK market, namely the Samsung Galaxy A54 & Motorola Edge 40.

                                Nord 3; 6.7” AMOLED 120Hz Display, no expandable storage, 5000mah battery/80W charging, Dimensity 9000 SoC, IP54 Protection, 256GB Storage/16GB RAM(£499)

                                Galaxy A54; 6.4” AMOLED 120Hz Display, expandable storage, 5000mah battery/25W charging, Exynos 1380 SoC, IP65 protection, 256GB Storage/8GB RAM(£499)

                                Edge 40; 6.5” AMOLED 144Hz Display, no expandable storage, 4400mah battery/68W charging, Dimesity 8020 SoC, IP68 protection, 256GB Storage/8GB RAM(£529)

All of these phones are good for mid-rangers, both the A54 and Nord 3 have Glass backs and plastic frames whilst the Edge 40 has an Aluminium frame but plastic back or fake leather.

All phones have in-display fingerprint readers and all phones have pretty similar 50MP Main Cams, however, the A54 and Nord 3 have fixed focus ultra wide cams and useless Macro lenses, the Edge 40 does not have. Macro lens as it’s Ultra-Wide cam has AF for Macro Shot, undoubtedly this AF ultra-Wide will have superior macro shots.

So? My thoughts, it’s a no for the Galaxy A54, I just can’t get past it’s displays bezels and it’s Exynos 1380 performance, whilst it’s adequate is no competition for the Nord 3’s Dimensity 9000s performance, the Edge 40s Dimensity 8020(6nm) has its roots from the previous Dimensity 1100 SoC(6nm)(regarded as a flagship chipsets when it was introduced), the dimensity 8020 can still cut it well enough against the Exynos 1380 despite being based on an older chip, the 16GB of RAM the Nord 3 had is impressive for the price but unnecessary when 8GB of RAM would’ve opened up some extra cash in the budget to place elsewhere in the device, perhaps a higher ingress protection rating.

Despite the £29 extra cost of the Motorola Edge 40, it would personally be my choice here, it’s does sacrifice performance compared to the Nord 3 yet will be comparable to the A54, the Motorola edge 40 has a superior camera setup given its Macro Shots will be better, it has full IP68 protection and an Aluminium Frame giving it extra heft in the hand and provided extra assurance when accident slips of water occur, yes the Edge 40 has a curved display, however, having worked with these before they don’t bother me personally and look rather modern compared to a flat display, the Edge 40 has a lesser battery capacity and a higher refresh rate display than the other so likely won’t have the same battery efficiency, however, it’s 68w charging should easily make up for that if a boost is required, it should still get through an average day of use.

If the Motorola Edge 40 had perhaps had extra performance from a newer Dimensity 8000 SoC for example, it would be the perfect mid range choice.
