Running Watch 4 Classic, I would love for the screen size of 6 classic to be paired with battery size and life of 5 pro. As it stands now, I have doubts if I should change my watch and even if so, I would be seriously of the fence between 5 pro and 6 classic.
I love the rotating bezel but if losing it meant one more day of battery life (and in my case - running on battery saving mode and low power watch face that allows my 4 classic to last about 3 days) I would not hesitate. But the bigger screen is a tease as well...
I guess I'll wait for Watch 7, see if Samsung listens to their customers and provides both of what I want.

Samsung have already shown that they can do 3 with a large enough battery on the Watch 5 pro. Equally competitors like the ticwatch 5 and huawei watch 4 are able to do at least 4 - and these are for a full fledged smartwatch (admittedly the huaei one lacking NFC payments in a lot of regions).

I really don't think it's an unreasonable expectation that the big names should be trying to improve what is the biggest weakness in their devices instead of focussing on adding more and more features.

One question: one of the biggest changes with 4.0 was supposed to be the ability to pair with another phone without having to reset the whole watch back to factory settings and go through initial setup. Why has this not been tested?

Chixby, 18 Aug 2023Laughable battery life The only laughable thing here is your understanding of wearable technology.
Anyone going in smartwatch territory has to understand one fundamental engineering concept (which also applies everywhere else): specialization, and only judge any device through the lens of how it achieves its specialized goal.

Wear OS watches are specialized to be as capable of doing myriad of things as possible, and open to run any 3rd party app developed for it. The price for that is battery life, because it has to run an OS capable of providing an open environment to wide range of apps. Garmin has much better battery life, but the watch can't do anything that isn't programmed by the company and literally is so limited to health tracking and fitness functions it becomes a very specialized, targeted device. But its battery life is outstanding and health functions among (if not the best) out there.

Anyone complaining that Wear OS devices have crap battery life or Garmin is being too closed are just not getting the point completely.
It's literally like buying a Roadster and then complaining it can't carry your Ikea sofa back home; or buying a large SUV and complaining it doesn't handle well in the corners. If you need to bring large items back home, why do you want to do it in a roadster? There's nothing wrong with that type of car, it's purpose-built and does what it's supposed to do well. Don't expect it to excel in an area that wasn't the focus of its engineering.

It's such a simple concept, yet so many fail to understand it at the most basic level...

Anybody who wants a smartwatch with proper OS will buy Wear OS watch.Battery life of around 3 to 4 days is good enough for many.
Buying a smartwatch with lesser features at higher price just for a big battery life like Garmin maybe good for few professional athletes. But for general public not that important.

Watch 5 Pro is far better than watch6 classic at a higher price. Paying for an obsession with manual rotating bezel is laughable.Calling it a deal breaker is hilarious. Even the watch4classic is fine with half the price.

I have Samsung Watch 3,4,5 Pro and this year i skipped watch 6 and bought a Ticwatch 5 Pro instead.

I am still wearing my Watch3, the looks and function haven't change much even 3 generation later, honestly they should stop the yearly circle for the watches, wasteful.

Terrible battery life, not for me. My Huawei gt2 it's better.

However I would pick the less versatile Garmin because of the battery life, the difference is staggering.

The possibilities and complexity of WatchOS and WearOS are the main culprit of poor battery life, you can do more with them at a price.

Garmin or Huawei run custom OS that is more power efficient, but the functionality while being fine on it’s own is less versatile, however for most that is a fair price to pay for the better battery life.

Would be nice if people finally understood that.

Nameless, 17 Aug 20232 days battery life.. My god...More than enough for me tbh

What the review doesn’t tell is that after removing all crap, you only have just above 7GB of storage left from the 16gb.

Pixel Watch and Apple Watch have less bloat than that, which is even more ironical because they also have more storage at 32gb each.
