Anonymous, 23 Aug 2023Punchy colours are opposite of accuracy. This is default m... morePunchy colours still have nothing to do with accuracy. There's more than just sRGB. Also yes, playing with the sliders DOES fix the calibration issues and no, my S23 Ultra does not have yellowish whites, grays or greens. Flickering is an issue and that is present on all phones, that's an issue with OLEDs that needs dedicated hardware to fix.

Anonymous, 24 Aug 2023this phone is simply outdated. I honestly agree. Back in 2020 or 2021, this phone could honestly have been a hit. Only Samsung had HRH figured out, and Xiaomi wasn't punching too hard in the mid-range area just yet. But today, it falls flat on its face; too many things that are mandatory for any decent 2023 phone are missing here.

KondriX, 24 Aug 2023I think it's a pretty good phone overall, the only pro... moreAnd the price..

I think it's a pretty good phone overall, the only problem is the battery life (for me). None or the alternatives is as fully packed as this one with 3.5mm audio jack, microSD slot, RGB notification light, 12 Gb RAM, USB 3 with video output and maybe others. Camera can be greatly improved with Gcam so is not a problem. Honestly I would get this one other any of the alternatives proposed. My opinion, that's it.

"Display could be more brightly and color-accurate."

            Replace this with:

"Display could be brighter and more color-accurate."

                  Why is this "pro" ?
It is mid range at best and with the huge chin i can even call it a low range.

You claim yourself tech EXPERTS then say something like "phone's surface never gets more than slightly warm under load, the chip still thermal-throttles very aggressively." Yeah how could that even be? Not like aggressive thermal throttling would result in low surface temperature? No no phone is not heating but still thermal throttling aggressively ACCORDING TO EXPERTS

Buy an Android phone from a well-known and big brand like Xiaomi, BBK, Samsung or one that is still growing from Transsion. You certainly don't want this almost dead brand.

GSMArena posted this nearly finished HTC review on Facebook, in the comments 99% didn't know HTC was still making phones.

If the thing doesn't have front facing stereo speakers, that's not HTC

Whackcar, 23 Aug 2023Not surprising. This is just HTC in name, not essence. Just... moreExactly my thoughts. Just like HMD Nokias, this is just a once-great-licenced-name applied on the back on some e-waste. Only a fool would think he's getting a taste of HTC by getting this phone. But there is many fools out there.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2023Bad calibration a.k.a punchy/saturated On any phone : ... moreWhat are you talking about, Samsung phones have punchy displays out of the box, but they are color accurate when set to natural color profile.
It has been like that for over a decade.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2023Colour calibration has nothing to do with saturation dude. ... morePunchy colours are opposite of accuracy. This is default mode on all galaxies, no other profile can mitigate this issue, not even playing with RGB sliders.
Yellowish whites, grays and greens ..
Samsung phones have inferior calibration compared to other flagships. That is a fact.
                              Delta 2.0 when other reach 0.7, 0.8 or 1.0?

Pathetic , as much as 240Hz flickering , just like low ends.

Not surprising. This is just HTC in name, not essence. Just like the new Nokia by HMD.

It's sad to see this company fail, as i have had great experiences with their phones in the past. Back in the days when the likes of Samsung & LG were releasing plastic cheap-looking phones, HTC was releasing metal premium-looking ones. Good old days!
