Absolutely awesome mobile ...perfect value for money. Excellent customization options for lock and home screen.
Video quality is amazing on open fold screen.
Camera is an absolute tough competition to Samsung fold or One plus.
I am in love with this phone except china ROM is something which keeps popping up the Xiaomi get app again and again in case of app updates.
I would really love if Xiaomi gives HYPER OS update to this costly phone on priority rather than giving it to cheap pcoband Redmi mobiles.

I have been using the fold 3 since September 2023. It is overall a great phone.i can use Google wallet as normal and add all my cards. The main issue is that it doesn't show the new notifications like WhatsApp or messenger. I don't know what to do

The preinstalled Play store lists the phone as "not certified" so apps like Google Wallet don't work properly ie. Can't add credit cards to the account.

Do not pixel-peep the 50MP images: they are horrible, over-processed to the point where they hurt your eyes. The review claims that these are not upscalings of the standard image, but if they aren't I hate to think what they actually are. Some of the foliage detail reminded me of the sort of crap that high levels of digital zoom produces.

The standard camera was fine, so I guess you can just ignore the 50MP mode. Just shocked that anyone OKed release of something so poor.

years ago when phones are not IP rated (original iPhone onwards, not those feature phones), people just use their phone with common sense aka stay away from liquid if possible
nowadays people look for phone usage in liquid?

I agree. MIUI 13 especially has been great! Fixed the issues in MIUI 12 and made evrything much smoother and better.

Core, 27 Aug 2023I believe the Honor V2 had sealed ports and the usual water... moreBut of course a lot depends on where you live and how you live. I dont live in a humid place, we dont get much rain here either. We just get a whole lot of minus temps. I also dont enjoy spending time near bigger puddles of water. Someone living in a humid place with monsoon rains has alot more reasons to invest in something that is certified water resistant than me.

In the end all of us choose a device that fits our needs, wants and budgets or at least some mixture of those we can get.

As for durability, it's probably a bit of bias as Z Folds are waaay more common than anything else out there, but I do have to say that in Z Fold facebook groups I see Z Folds with broken inner screens every single day. Bubbled up inner screen protectors twice a day. Those I dont see much, but at least the earliers Folds were blamed for weak resistance to drops (maybe the old hinge was worse in that regard, dunno). But again, it's biased as the community for chinese foldables outside china is very small for now. I do follow several Honor communities but Ive yet to see a broken Vs or V2. In the end though, with bad luck, defective unit or bad care anything breaks. I'm trying to care for the Z Fold 5 well, cos I dont intend on keeping it as its a leased device, so I dont want to be hit with a "this should be in better condition seeing its age" bill, and again, many great things about this but I cant say I'm in love with it and all my issues are things almost every competitor did dfferent/better. Still, lot to like.

PepperPot, 27 Aug 2023Durability is an intricate part of foldables. It's not... moreI believe the Honor V2 had sealed ports and the usual water resistant coating on the components. No idea what that effort would lead to as far as IP rating, but I've never really been concerned.

I mean, of course if we have 2 identical phones at identical price, but one has IP rating and the other one doesnt, I'll go for the one with the IP rating, but it doesnt really hold any more weight than that in my decision making. It's nice that it's there on the Fold5, but I would be using one right now even if it didnt, and likewise will probably switch to V2 even if it doesnt have one. But sadly, not really planning on doing science to see how much water either one of them can truly handle :D

Core, 27 Aug 2023Lack if IP rating has nothing to do with lacking water resi... moreDurability is an intricate part of foldables. It's not only a selling point. It's also a bragging point.

No one cared about One Plus' lack of certification until the pop up camera and One+ did word of mouth marketing through youtubers. That's why we know it was water resistant. There is no indication from Xiaomi or Honor that is the case here so their phones are only splash resistant.

But, you can dump your $1500-$2000 Honor into the water if your willing to put your theory to the test. I'll be interested to see what happens.

I agree though that the main screen is a great experience. Its just that for 2k I want two great experiences which is what I dont get now. But each to their own. I suppose for many its more pocketable like this, personally I feel thinner but wider is better in hand and pocket.

The opposite is the case. The very first Z Fold had a very small cover screen and a main screen (the inner screen). Since then, Samsung never changed their language: they still refer to the inner screen as the main screen. Samsung never pretended something else. They designed the Z Fold around that main screen (inner screen) from beginning.
However, they managed to make the cover screen bigger which is good, but what almost remained unchanged since the very first version are the aspect ratio and the size of the Z Fold's main screen as well as the overall size of the phone.
And in my opinion, they have the best inner screen and the best overall size of the phone.

It is fascinating that people complain about the cover screen of the Z Fold which is as wide as the cover screen of the iPhone Mini. Has been Apple really selling an unsuable phone in the past few years? This complaining about the width of the Z Fold's cover screen is simply irrational!

You are mixing the slab phones and foldables which have a completely different structur and moving parts. There is no proof for Xiaomi's or OnePlus' foldables to be water resistant until they prove it!

Xiaomi why, I was already upset when mix fold 2 didn't come to global and now even mix fold 3 isn't, why?
There is not big Conquest, like samsung, honor etc they are small for me I mean front display, also other thing thickness etc.
Yes people buy fold 5 be cause they not have choice.
In mámy aspect mix fold 3 is much better.
Nop I won't be pay £1200 to have it from China without global guarantee.
And yes I have samsung s23 ultra and I will swap it for this phone. It's just because I need for work etc.
