Nick Tegrataker, 04 Oct 2023It's hilarious to see that the iPhone 15 Pro falls beh... moreA phone is a phone is a phone... they all have cameras, play music and connect to the internet... plus have that amazing ability to make and receive phone calls.

All Apple is doing is tweaking the spec a bit and calling it the 'next generation phone' so that they can maintain the cycle of at least some users buying 'this year's model' and junking their old 12 or 18 month old model which is, of course, perfectly OK. This allows Apple to maintain an all important income stream to boost their bottom line.

God forbit that customers should realise that any mobile is good for at least four or five years use and not keep on buying a new one every year.

It's hilarious to see that the iPhone 15 Pro falls behind the regular iPhone 15 in 48MP mode according to GSMArena's studio comparison - the latter is simply less noisy while maintaining more details across the frame.

I don't know if this could be attributed to the complexity of designing high definition lens for a larger sensor, or the (rumoured, not confirmed) use of the 2-layer transistor sensor on the regular 15, but either way Pro's only advantage in terms of what you get out of the main camera is ProRAW, which is purposely disabled on non-Pros.

Disappointing battery life. Looks like due to porr call and especially stand by performance which is a really bad sign for those who don't use their phone a lot and hope for solid battery time. Unfortunately this not the case here as with the poor stand by performance your battery charge will be drained even if you don't use your phone a lot. Shame on Apple for not being able to nail stand by performance even after so many years.

I cannot believe iPhone cameras are comfortably ahead of Xperia in terms of detail rendition! Impressive🤯

It feels like something was omitted from this review

newflesh, 03 Oct 2023I don't fully get their battery endurance tests too. T... moreSome phones have over 40h of talk time.
            And huge standby.
Overall score is higher even if internet/video are lower.

"Limiting the 5x telephoto to just the Max feels arbitrary "

              Samsung : 230mm for Ultra, 69mm for non-Ultra
              Sony: 85-125 for 1, nothing for 5
              Vivo: 90mm for Pro+, 50mm for 90Pro
              Xiaomi: "120mm " for Ultra , "70mm" for 13 Pro

Apple is just being as nasty/greedy as other.

newflesh, 03 Oct 2023I don't fully get their battery endurance tests too. T... moreYeah, Pixels had about the same, but the 6 Pro defo matched up to what they said.

ashrobb, 03 Oct 2023I'm kinda sick of those overly big and heavy phones. T... moreI don't fully get their battery endurance tests too. The web browsing, video tests are great but at the same time overall endurance is just 86 hours, which is pathetic for such a very expensive phone. And the review doesn't say that it's really bad. I mean its comparable to Galaxy S22 which has an 85 hours endurance and was bashed everywhere for it

I'm kinda sick of those overly big and heavy phones. This is the first top of the line iPhone I find interesting in a while, weight reduction is pretty significant. The battery score is also deceiving... The onscreen results are great, and standby sure is decent. Is the 'low' call score the one affecting the final numbers (as if anyone needs to be 20 hours on a call). Hopefully after the battery test is revamped you'll come with a better metric to determine battery life.

                        Meh... Next!

The battery life is a little disappointing, especially with the new A17. I expected better.
