AlexS, 06 Nov 2023Can you install a GCam mode in a Samsung phone?Yes, for some snapdragon based Samsung flagships (S23 series) and midrange phones you can sideload a GCam mod. For Exynos devices, very few or no existing GCam mods with Night Sight.

supafly99, 04 Nov 2023when i bought it i was pissed of from the qualty of the Pic... moreNo you're wrong, image quality got worse

Over sharpening, over saturated, often noisy and mushy details. The 10x zoom on Pixel 8 Pro is better than 10x on the Ultra as I sold my Ultra for an 8 Pro. Also why do Samsung insist on using different separate apps for photos?? If they can have better image quality using Expert RAW then why can't they bake it into the stock camera app in first place instead of seperate app?? And the only way they can have a 2x crop is another seperate app Camera Assistant, why?? Why do they need a seperate app to apply worse image quality with picture softening to speed up processing?? Beats me it does.

Long term review? This thing is not even a year old yet. Do one in 2 years or so.

Samsung tripling down on oversharpening with subsequent camera software updates is just comical and absolutely hilarious. "Picture softening" (A terrible label because you're just reducing the amount of sharpening applied instead of actively "softening" the image) seems to alleviate the issue slightly, but the output is still nowhere near as natural as, let's say, that from OnePlus Open or the latest Xiaomi 13 series.

Samsung is truly struggling to compete with its peers when it comes to camera performance, and it shows.

I'm so happy with mine, best decision to upgrade from my 3 years old note 20 ultra, well albeit not only upgrading, but also replacing, the old note was plagued with screen issue, it developed two vertical lines, my only wish is to mine last longer than my note 20 ultra, 3 years was not enough for a flagship considering i used many phone for 5+ years before this.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2023No. Being boxy is the Note/ Ultra series appeal, not only f... moreThe great thing is that if you do dislike the squared corners, you can always get one of the other S23 phones, albeit missing out on some Ultra aspects like the extra lenses and S Pen. And if you do like them, you can have them! It's a choice others don't provide now the Pixel 8 has also gone to rounded corners after the more squared 7 Pro (which I thought was the sweet spot personally with its tiny radius curves, but I wasn't getting a Tensynos phone...)

Great phone.....except mine is still giving me WiFi6 issues, even after an update, and reset. Not great.

                        S23 Ultra is really insane.

Most in my case i get 7 to 9hrs for 1.5 to 2 days. I agree thay after how many months its still im pristine condition and still have 99% battery health.

How can we not forget that Annoying Moisture charging issue...and it has been since i was using S10...apart from many other water resistant phones out their in market...samsung unable to resolve this worst issue.

You still do need to use a GCam mode to avoid waxy looking walls and surfaces and shadow areas that looks like 'beauty mode' or 'beauty filter' has been applied to them. I don't know why Samsung can't fix it. You really can't unsee it once you have a Pixel phone ang compare the Samsung's photos with the Pixel in the side by side comparison. I guess Samsung's camera software engineers just cannot see it (that waxy look).

rosesarerosie, 03 Nov 2023Why did they think that the photos need more sharpening..? ... moreLol it's not really in line with midrangers, it's definitely better but not the best, and review doesn't tell it all in some scenerios, how did Gsmarena best camera phone become way too overshappened according to them. Me for a reason I love punchy colors and not dull ones, most don't even own the device but they make it look like the overshappening is very bad, but it's not especially on 50mp mode or 200mp.

What I like the most in samsung pro raw camera mode is its hdr shooting, shooting an object in summer against a sky and sun, it was able to recreate detail in shadow and sky too.
Now only if their hdr made way to hi res like on oppo, which I think samsung lost to(not sure if pro raw was used tho, maybe only video?).
I hope they move to hi res the rest of sensors too, but uw seems to be for another year, as tele is the one to change now.
What made me interested is - ultra long term review, but then I seen that s23 before it.
Makes one wonder how long can it last, my Samsung Note 3 is pretty alive after few battery changes, tho I dont use it a lot, wonder how long are phones used now, 10y made it prehistoric, but since I converted it to full spectrum it got some use, not to mention I use a pen on my S21U lol.
Thats some ultra long term for me.
