skhemlang, 07 Dec 2023s23ultra or iqoo12 to buyiqoo 12, its half price of s23 ultra
greater soc, software is good, not worth to pay double only for "update"

skhemlang, 07 Dec 2023s23ultra or iqoo12 to buyThis phone is about half the price of the S23 Ultra.
If you want a gaming phone, get the iqoo 12. Looks like it is what it’s intended for.
But if you want a more general phone with smarter software, Samsung would be a better choice.

        Underrated (personal opinion)

The camera samples look poor. Iqoo has a long way to go before it can be used for photography.

Samsung and even Xiaomi produce better quality images.

I simply can't believe the Wild Life GPU Stress test results. How did this phone get above 18,000?

I remember the ROG phone 7 Ultimate and Xiaomi 13 Ultra (the SD 8 Gen 2 phones with best cooling) both got around 13,000. Such a massive difference in a single year is insane.

              Damn, so much RAM... lol

Very interesting phone, especially at the price. But that powerful chip seems to be wasted. I mean look at the software. What kind of features that take advantage of such modern chip? Other than the horizon levelling, I don't see anything else. It's probably the first time I feel a smartphone being not that smart anymore.

This is in contrast when I watch the Pixel 8 announcement. Yes, tensor sucks, but you can feel that the Pixel 8 is being a smartphone, with many actual smart features.

This iQoo 12 feels like a superfast hardware with bare software. All those horsepower and AI stuff, and all you can do is to play games? Kinda sad.

think so far this one is looking to be my next phone price is lower supports all the network bands, was looking at Realme GT5 Pro but CN version is missing some network bands for my country, Oneplus 12 CN has all the bands but costs more, or maybe just stick with the Xiaomi mi 11 still happy with its performance and screen just stick in new battery

Carnage, 06 Dec 2023Is there any gorilla glasa protection? No, apparently no

skhemlang, 07 Dec 2023s23ultra or iqoo12 to buyYou asking? Well, if you want the absolute best there is without many caveats, then the S23U. But if you want to save some money, while still getting top-notch performance and amazing specs all-around, then the IQOO 12

rosesarerosie, 06 Dec 2023The unnecessary hatred that some of y'all have for cur... moreIf you drop a phone, odds are it will land on an edge or corner. On asphalt or textured tile, that virtually guarantees there will be a single point of contact on impact. This impact needs to be absorbed very quickly by the glass, but the absorption rate changes as the curvation changes.

Think about how runners on the outside of a track have to run farther/faster to keep up with the inside of the track. The excess energy jumps from molecule to molecule---creating microcracks and interstitial voids---as one wave; starting together, staying together if the "track" is flat, but on a curve, the track is not flat. Airplanes and pressure tanks have the advantages that they can be prestressed and that metals have a large elastic region and over time will fix molecular-level damage. The damage to glasses will remain forever unless you get back near melting temperature, so each drop accumulates more damage and less pathways for the next impact to dissipate excess energy.

(Once the excess energy is too high to dissipate with the existing surface area of the material, the material finds a way to make new surface area. By splitting into a bunch of tiny pieces.)

You'll find phones with flat Gorilla Glass 3 or 4 that are akin to plastic. Drop from a balcony? Fall out of pocket on a motorcycle? Even without a case, my Nexus 6P took a beating and never cracked. My Xperia---flat screen---fell 3 stories down a stairwell out of a bag; the body of the phone was warped but the screen totally intact.

Curved screen? I dropped a cased and screen-protected LG V40 (Gorilla Glass 5) from a ~50 cm bench onto tile, screen cracked like it was made of eggshell.

It's a disappointing and frustrating technology that raises the cost of smartphone ownership unnecessarily. It's probably a pain in the ass to develop as an engineer. And for what benefit? That with a thin enough case, it's almost comfortable to hold? That an OLED notification ring will create a glow on your desk when the phone is face down? What a bullcrap neighborhood sidestreet curved displays has turned out to be...

"The front is home to the 6.78-inch E7 AMOLED panel, which is of high resolution, refresh rate, and brightness. It looks gorgeous, does feel incredibly smooth, and the punch hole for the 16MP front camera is tiny."
