vivo X100 Pro review

So you are telling me, you will get a digital zoom from same old x90 pro 1 inch sensor in a fancy name as mm . This thing just enables digital zoom in a potrait mode on 1X (23mm) camera upto 3.4 X (85mm). It simply means there is no optically 2X (50mm) clarity as X90 pro ,has only optical is a 4.3X (100mm).
The digital zoom between 23 mm to 85 mm will just have low quality tested on x90 pro till 46mm on 1 inch sensor quality is good but losses details. It a shame that it cannot output a better clarity at 50mm than x90 pro. Since it will digital 50 mm vs optical 50mm.
But thing is u cannot digitally zoom in 1 inch sensor in x90 pro in protaite mode. But again who the hell in the world even want a digital zoom in a flagship model ?.
All we need is all range optical zoom camera but is impossible to fit 23 mm 35 mm , 50mm , 85mm ,100mm, 16mm in one phone, it's a bloody 6 camera setup . May be in future.
But for now a simple 50mm optical addition will do the magic for perfect shooting distance.Since we need to go far away to take human potrait on 100mm optical.

When it have 3 cameras, the reviewer keep on writing primary and telephoto as main camera and a ultra wide. It is quite irritating while reading as he is mixing the 1 inch camera and telephoto cam

I was reading the latest video test on notebookcheck between Xiaomi 13 Ultra, S23U, Pixel 8 Pro and iP15PM and X13U as far as picture quality (4K daylight and 4K night, 8K daylight and 8K night between Xiaomi and S23U) was a clear winner, not iPhone and i didn't consider iPhone to be the best at least two years in video.
Pixel 8 Pro was clearly the last place.

          Funny :
          - Geekerwan made stability test with good results
          - Sahil Karoul made one with horrible résultats
          - Dylan Lee made one with good results

Media spread massively the one from Sahil Karoul. Forget the two others.
Gsmarena makes their own. That's great and that's how any reporting media should behave! Verify the information!
          Most others probably won't...sadly.
What will stay in people mind : Dimensity 9300 throttles.

According to their business model, DXO shouldn't be consider as a reference.

Waiting for X100's review🙏, though X100 pro is not merely impressive but impeccable, X100 is more affordable.

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! What a great camera it has, the 46mm lens which cropped from main camera is better than any other optical lens. I was stunned by the consistently great performance on it. I would say that it's the high time for me to put down my camera in daily capturing and street photography.

For example, Pixel 8 Pro doesn't show any moire in the snail shot, but its balcony scene shows a very noticeable rainbow pattern in the holes which is not how it looks like in real life.

The only company that handled moire extremely well that I had seen in the past was Huawei (still not flawless), the rest was either mushing small patterns and details altogether, or resolving a good amount of details but showing colourful artifacts at the same time.

In particular, putting a 23mm lens in front of the main 1" sensor is such a waste. It's just too wide.
As a hobby photographer, I made my best street photos with an 28mm equivalent lens (on a dedicated APSC camera), so yes, going out to e.g. 26 mm would have been much better instead of 23mm equiv.

I suspect that keeping the focal length low, helped them reduce the protrusion of the lens.

X100 Pro captures more details in the balcony patterns while also applying *less* sharpening to the images therefore resulting in more natural-looking photos. Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, captures a comparable amount of details to the X100 but also relies more heavily on sharpening.

At night the X100 Pro overly sharpens and reduces noise from photos, but so does the Pixel 8 Pro - IMO Xiaomi is the only one that handles details relatively naturally among the three.

The 10x daylight images are very strange. In some images I see definitely more detail from objects in comparison to the 100mm images, but some other daylight 10x images look artificial as if they used pixel binning and upscaled the image via machine learning. Without dng files, it's hard to know what's going on. For example, the Pixel 6 Pro uses AI upscaling + pixel binning at 10x in all(!) light conditions (possibly, Google didn't know how to demosaic/remosaic Quad Bayer back then), whereas Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro use pixel binning at 10x only in low light conditions.

I just compared the X100 Pro shots to the Pixel 7 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The X100 Pro achieves it's low noise by stripping detail from the images. Looking at areas like the wooden frame, the X100 Pro noticeably loses detail and texture. The X100 Pro also oversharpens noticeably. Overall, the review is much too favorable and forgiving, IMO.
