Nick Tegrataker, 03 Jan 2024"Reality: 120 or 240 Hz according to notebookcheck tes... moreSame old lies. If it was statement about samsung, sony, htc, motorola , asus or apple then you would say it was false marketing.
Instead of using base value of 0, they had to use 1933 as reference to meet the marketing from xiaomi. Interesting they could not find high values for the 13T (120Hz), Mix Fold 3 (367Hz), mate X3 (484), P60 Pro (120), X6 Pro (120), 13 Ultra (120), Magic 5 Pro (120). Feel free to read.
Speaking of false marketing, which new lie huawei gonna advertise for P70 series?

First... I can't see the difference between high of lower refresh rate! Really tried. Fit me useless.
Second I made pictures with my phone.. Real me 11 pro. ANd my friends iPhone 14 pro max, compared and iPhone not color accurate, skies too blue. Send pictures of my and his phone to several ppl to tell me which is iPhone, ppl we're not able.
Lots of usekess features. You never used on those phones, like cameras you never use. Literally never.
And no I do not make moonpictures.

Bargain hardware for the price which won't be launched anywhere else to not cannibalize the sales of oneplus and even iqoo nowadays. Realme's budget offerings aren't good anymore and they aren't launching their good ones anywhere except China. It personally ticks all the boxes for me and no money is wasted on additional gimmicks. Kinda disappointing .

Marketing: phone charges at X watts
R... more"Reality: 120 or 240 Hz according to notebookcheck tests"
Bullshit. From Notebookcheck's review of Xiaomi 14 Pro:
"To find out more about this, we additionally examine the Xiaomi 14 Pro with a flicker meter that recognizes visible variations in the illumination density. Using our measurement of 1,933 Hz, we are also able to confirm the specifications of the manufacturer."
In fact, every other phone that claims to use DC dimming for their display panels (e.g. Honor Magic5 Pro) shows exactly the same, a much flatter flicker pattern compared to those that do not use DC dimming.

Anonymous, 02 Jan 2024The only "confusion" is the fact that you think l... moreOppo and oneplus sites says Find N3 and Open have stacked architecture sensor T808. And if you see same information on realme and oneplus sites about gt5 pro and oneplus 12 you see nothing about that. And if you see information about cameras in some software: N3 and Open have 11.21mm diagonal which is 16/21=1/1.428" and gt5 pro, oneplus 12 have 11.47mm which is 16/11.47=1/1.39" so official sites say true about sizes (LYT-808 1/1.4", LYT-T808 1/1.43") and which sensor have double layer transistor(LYT-T808).

jiyen235, 02 Jan 2024Yeah but Find X had better hardware, better looking hardwar... moreMy example was to refer to OP9 Pro x Oppo X3 Pro.
Both were extremely similar inside.
Almost same phone.
Price was not equal.
Again, just because A is cheaper than B, does not mean screen cant be better.
Look at how many phones have better oled than Samsung Ultra 21/22/23.

jiyen235, 02 Jan 2024compelling argument, but doesn't make sense Vivo'... moreNot all brands care about certain numbers.
Colour accuracy at its highest level happens at lower brihtness (300-400).
Do you think sony has traded screen over the years? Mark 5 can reach about 450-470 nits more than mark 2 and 3.
To vivo, this 2000, 2500, 3000 nits has no use probably.
Higher brightness decreases oled lifespam (youtubers and tech sites never bother to remind people of this little fact), increase temperature inside and later throttling to cool down.
You can get exactly same screen from OP12, just cap refresh rate to 90 and brightness to 800 nits if you think it is enough. Very simple.
Many phones out there are capable of 120Hz, but are locked at 60 or 90 by OEMs.

Anonymous, 02 Jan 20241) Just because phone A has more nits and more hertz, does ... moreYeah but Find X had better hardware, better looking hardware and better cameras to justify the higher price. What's your point then? The Realme is inferior to the Vivo in all ways but 2
1.) The display
2.) The telephoto (It's a toss-up really, 1/1.56" 3x vs 1/2" 4.3x, could go either way if processing is done right).
and what do you mean by more nits and hz doesn't make a screen better? The only other thing I can think of PW dimming which is something not tested by GSMarena. Additionally, the MOST important aspect is SDR color performance, and most phones nail that easily. SDR/srgb comprises of 95% of our content and that's what 99% of normies would watch and do.
And if they want HDR? The Realme supports Dolby Vision whereas the Vivo does NOT. The HDR implementation, gamma tracking and PQ EOTF are important but who cares when it's on this tiny screen? If HDR highlights POP and there's the OLED contrast the image would look banger for 90% of people. I can't trust chinese manufacturers with giving an accurate image, except for Sony and Apple I think everyone would brighten up the image and have inconsistent gamma and color accuracy at different resolutions. So it's safe to say that the best things keeping them different are the brightness and if there's good enough PW Dimming or not. The difference between 120 and 144 hz is minute and only for bragging rights, the difference between 120 and 165 is more substantial and the jump to 240 hz from a 120 hz display is ideal as that is a REAL jump in latency/response time difference (from 8.33 ms to 4.17, that is half the time taken which improves the felt smoothness).

Anonymous, 02 Jan 2024OEMs can control brightness the way they want. Remember h... morecompelling argument, but doesn't make sense Vivo's the one trying to make a flagship, Realme skimps out on more stuff most of the time so it just doesn't fit. Maybe it's just to even out the difference created by the poor ultrawide, less potent waterproofing and lower brand image.

Except for the ultrawide and telephoto, this phone is practically the same as the OnePlus 12. Nice to have a preview.
