The hole pattern on the panel is not resolved at all, and it's black and white so chroma is not the issue. An example of a borderline case is the Infinix Zero 30. There is a 3x zoom photo where the hole pattern is resolved only on the right half of the picture.

That's why i stopped buying Xiaomi phones. Too many models, hard to properly software support all of them. In short, Xiaomi don't really understand the trends (software support is really important for ppl lately) and now their phones are just for the undemanding crowd

By the way, the demosaicing artifacts in some of the 4x sample images indicate that the lens is very sharp. So sharp that even 200 megapixels (but with Tetra²pixel array) don't outresolve the lens. Though it would be interesting whether a 200 megapixel Bayer sensor would outresolve the lens. Then you would see no demosaicing artifacts.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2024The 4x photos are ok, mostly better than upscaling crops fr... moreI want to add that one actually needs to distinguish between Tetra²Pixel with Quad Pixel autofocus and Tetra²Pixel without Quad Pixel autofocus. It's surprising that Quad Pixel autofocus sensors can use their subpixels for a higher resolution whereas 12 megapixel Dual Pixel sensors can theoretically give you a 24 megapixel image, but there wouldn't be more detail according to multiple sources. So it's surprising that Quad Bayer sensors with Quad Pixel autofocus as well as Tetra²pixel sensors with Quad Pixel autofocus can indeed deliver more detail.
For example, there is a mirrorless camera called Om System Om-1, which has a Quad Bayer Quad Pixel sensor with 80 million subpixels, but it can only output 20 megapixel photos.

Munem, 30 Jan 2024This is just sad. I can get over bad battery, but as someon... moreWhy do you need to have more than 10 seconds of AoD? You can slightly move phones to activate it again (i purposely have the option turned on, most the time the phones in a pocket or being used like most people).

In my country this is £300 and you arent getting much better, new, at this price with those overall specs. (you are right though you can get some really good 2nd hand even flagship devices in perfect condition for around the same price/get a samsung flagship from last 2 years too).

I mean xiaomi does offer atleast 4 years of software updates and 5 years security for a good amount of their devices and the UI is one of the more well polished ones and has been a very enjoy ui for many years (i loved it on the redmi note 5 ai dc), madness you think this is an "abomination"

Really good review, really impressed with it and i do think at the price range any of those choice would be just as good alternatives. Possibly not the note 13 4g pro, just not worth it at only €50 off.

                      Good job guys 🤟

                        No checking on video stabilization!
Seems the review was cut short.

fastezzz, 30 Jan 2024320 vs 430 street price are not 40/50 €My bad, I first checked a week ago and the cheapest note 13 5g was on Amazon for €399 and the cheapest 13T was €420 (on other platform).
                          Now the difference is considerable.

On the other hand, from other reviews, the note 13 5g has video stabilisation issues, so if video is important, I would skip this phone anyway.

This is just sad. I can get over bad battery, but as someone who's dependant on notifications, 10 seconds of AOD for a 400€ phone??? Also Xioami crybabies - comparing every Xiaomi with Samsung - Samsung is cheaper. At least in my country. A54 goes for 300€ for months. Heck, even cheaper via carrier plan. For 300€ you can get used S23, used 6-12 months, new just 100€ more than this Redmi. And you will still have far more updates that this abomination.

The 4x photos are ok, mostly better than upscaling crops from the 1x or 2x photos (apart from the third 4x image). Though, the Tetra²pixel array is an even worse color filter array than Quad Bayer, so despite having more than 1.6x as many pixels per angle as the Poco X6 as well as a 70% larger sensor area at 100mm (important for the noise performance in good light conditions), the 4x image of the clock looks partly better with the Quad Bayer array of the Poco X6 (surprisingly, the 4x image of the Poco X6 has more detail than the 2x image of the Poco) and the third 4x sample image looks bad, too (maybe out of focus?), though in the other 4x sample images the 13 Pro seems to perform better.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2024It's a joke how bad it it, the S23 with a better chip ... moreAnd you can get S23 for same money + more upgrades than this!

Spanky, 30 Jan 2024Why is this rated higher than the Poco X6 Pro? 😒 Just becau... moreIt can only be because of the camera. They must have weighted photo quality with the main camera very heavily. They didn't mention video stabilization in this review though and the video stabilization is much better on the Poco x6 pro compared to this phone which has a lot of jitters with the stabilization. So even though the sensor is much better on the Redmi note 13 pro 5g the video quality suffers a bit, maybe due to the weaker ISP. Why they didn't even mention video stabilization is beyond me as that's one of the most important aspects of video quality

Why is this rated higher than the Poco X6 Pro? 😒 Just because of the better main camera? The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has a worse chipset, slower storage, slower RAM, comes with Android 13 (which will eat away one major update for the phone) and higher price.

The screen quality, resolution, brightness, IP rating are the same. The only advantages of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G are the main camera and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

The Poco X6 Pro blows this phone out of the water, there’s no comparison.

I want to upgrade the camera on my Moto G22.
Been hearing a lot of positive things on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro but also the Camera on the older Samsung S1 Ultra. Read many reviews and photos but still unsure for around the same price which is best a brand new 13 Pro or a renewed Samsung S1 Ultra.
                                        Any suggestions
                                        Thanks
