Anonymous, 27 Feb 2024Could somebody confirm issues with advertisement and bloatw... moreYou should check out reviews by Techtablets. He is critical to ads on Xiaomi phones and will always point out if there are ads in the phones he reviewed. He didnt find ads in his Chinese 14 Pro, but he pointed out the bloatware that thankfully can be uninstalled. He will review the global 14 soon and I believe the global models wont have ads as well.
Dont listen to the naysayers here who like to keep repeating "all Xiaomi phones have ads". Personally, I never encountered ads on my Mi 11T. It also got the promised 3 OS updates, so i would add Xiaomi's policy of 4 OS updates for the 14 series is not just empty promise.

A used S23 Ultra 256gb in good condition is now available at around €680 while 14 Pro Max 256gb around €820. That means Samsung has slightly better resale value than other Android brands, but still depreciate faster than main rival Apple.

That camera box looks horrible. There is no need for it to be so big.

Those human subject photos don't do George any favors. Amongst the worst I've seen at least from any high end device. The portrait mode is particularly poor, being soft, lacking in details and too high on contrast. I suppose human subject photos are one of the hardest things to get right on a smartphone camera but would expect better than this. Compared to something like a realme gt5 pro even it's like a night and day difference

Nick Tegrataker, 28 Feb 2024"X100P is worse of the three. Click on spongbob, donke... moreI do not understand why people here are critiquing the photos by what they're seeing at the edges instead of what is at the centre of the photo. Any decent lens on a camera at an f-stop of around 1.4 or 1.6 would be producing bokeh leaving only the centre of the photo sharp and in focus. Photographers do pay more for lens with larger aperture that can blur the edges and highlight and isolate the subject at the centre. If the camera isn't doing this at f1.4 or f1.6, then it isn't really doing a good job, which is what I am finding with most phone cameras.

The software review section has become boring of referring to an old article of general OS review screenshots. We want to see the screenshots of the phone under reviews with it's wallpapers, quick settings & unique features etc not referring us to some old general OS review. The reason I read reviews is especially the software section but it has become boring now without screenshots of the actual phone.

It's funny that usually you're against oversharpening yet you mistook X100 Pro as the "worst" one simply because the other two apply significantly stronger sharpening. X100 Pro shows the highest level of detail at the centre/near-centre regions and fares well against X80 Pro towards the edges of the frame as well (X90 Pro is the worst here, applying way too much noise reduction).
"Look at how xz2 with 1/2.3" wiper the floor with 99% of the phones"
Ah yes, a 19MP sensor resolves more details than a 12MP sensor in a chart that is designed to measure the resolution. Extremely surprising.

Could somebody confirm issues with advertisement and bloatware for the Xiaomi 14?
If I can uninstall preinstalled apps that's not an issue for me at all.
If there are adds then that is a big no-no.
Otherwise it looks like great specs so far, way above anything currently available in the same compact format.
