This phone has the potential to be a legend, I just wish it had more software support. It combines hardware prowess and battery life with nostalgic design language, and it even keeps the headphone jack!

Nowadays you can get pretty fluid everyday perfomance from mid-range phones, the thing that separates those from flagships is the camera performance. So if this one's camera is average , and it throttles because it doesn't have the cooling to match the performance, who is it for? If i wanted an average camera but fast everyday perfomance and some solid gaming I'd take something like the Poco F5, this one is too close to some seriously impressive phones

I absolutely agree with the comments regarding this phone being terrible in comparison to its past phones and it seems like the term gets tossed around very loosely these days but worse yet it's just another example of phone makers being unoriginal and boring.
Firstly there is absolutely no excuse for phone makers to not add and support external memory. We were once told it was because it was slow and impacted the performance of the phone. This was an outlandish lie but made worse by the fact that memory cards are now quite capable of transferring files at speeds similar to and above SATA SSD drives which is fine enough to transfer data and work as even a primary drive without causing any issues.
There is little reason to buy this phone over the next phone unless you are hellbent on being brand loyal to ASUS as they are all pretty similar and boring these days. Nobody is trying to do anything better or different and worse yet putting in the least effort possible and earning as much as possible.
No charger is another decision in the long line of lies we are being sold much to the same as the external memory issue. It's just another way for them to charge you more for another product or an upsize of internal storage space.
The flip camera was a neat design that eliminated the need to a notch or camera hole on the front of your screen whilst also providing the absolute best camera possible for front facing pics/recordings. If they worked at it then it could have also fit well into the vlogging scene also in some instances.
Interesting ideas, research and development costs money but yields greater products but sadly the mass boneheaded audience will likely buy anything companies put out just for street credit as is abundantly obvious in regards to the fruit branded products that people lap up year after year just to keep up with the next person.

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2024No clue what you're on about, oneui is dogwater in com... moreOneUI is pretty good and I am someone that has used mostly barebone Android phones before my S23U. It does overwhelm you at first, but offers tons of great benefits.

This may not be the perfect flagship but really, you guys recommend the iPhone 15 Plus as an alternative? It's not very competitive no matter the spec, nor is it well priced whatsoever.

A nice piece of kit, but the camera is atrocious, sorry. It's just shilling by the reviewers on this point. Maybe it's just bad software like always and another app can fix it?
