Actually, it is even cheaper in Europe than China because we did get 300€ coupon code + 200€ trade in for any phone so 999€ for 512Gb and a photography which is better than 1037€ China phone without android auto

Xiaomi and BBK continue to impress in the camera department. It's pretty admirable that the main lens is already corner-to-corner sharp and has an impressive contrast at its widest aperture, and those characteristics peak as early as F2.0 - It's quite obvious that Xiaomi put a lot of effort into ensuring this level of optical quality, it's no easy feat for sure.

The telephoto cameras that can focus super close are very nice to have, too. Although due to their smaller sensor size, they will never reach the theoretical magnification level of a macro lens attached to a dedicated camera, they can indeed get a lot closer to the subject if you level the sensor resolution (i.e. a7SIII with 90mm F2.8 Macro G can only focus as close as 28cm). The quality won't be as good, yes, but these kinds of quality-of-life improvements are always super appreciated nonetheless.

Also kudos to Xiaomi for continue with neutral image processing rather than relying on heavy oversharpening and denoising. The Leica Authentic mode definitely proves this smartphone is indeed one of the best pont-and-shoot cameras even if you actually try to use it as one rather than a regular phone camera. I love subtle deepness in the green channel and deep (yet slightly undersaturated) blues, definitely reminds me of colour science from a few Huawei flagships when they just started the collaboration with Leica. Really likable colours!

I've had the phone for 5 days now. Photo quality is excellent. Screen and performance seem good. The phone feels very good in hand despite the size. Charging time is very quick.

My issue is with the camera lens fogging up when in a cold or humid environment. The problem sustains for a few minutes before dissipating. The problem persists even after moving to a warm dry room. The battery isn't great and the speaker is surprisingly quiet.

If phone was something like €1200-1300 in China , then I would understand being €1500 for Europe. But same device is no more than €850. Costs to have it sold in Europe do not increase price by 70-80%. This is xiaomi profit, even higher than iphones since this device is cheaper to make than iphone pro max 256GB.

I love the colours in the photos. The snail picture is always my go to. It's a pity the selfies aren't brilliant as well.

Volt, 25 Mar 2024Seems like no 2024 phone is getting 4.64.6 what?

                    Main camera is great.

Both 3.2X & 5X optical zoom cameras are amazing.

But I don't like the ultra wide in either daylight or low-light... Xiaomi should have used the same LYT-600 sensor like the Oppo Find X7 Ultra

Everything is almost perfect for me, but dang, I dislike the idea of paying plenty of money for phones, or anything that it's being constantly renewed and will lose most of their original value in 2 or 3 years (That's why I always purchase phones in the second hand market, and so far I haven't had any issue)

€1500 is a joke... Where is this world heading? Even €1000 is a huge amount for a phone. And a lot of company dont even add fast charger.

It is true that Authentic mode looks a bit moody and dark. However, in Pixel surveillance tests, it is possible to obtain more realistic details, less sharpness and more natural colors with Authentic mode. Vibrant mode adds more saturation and sharpness to photos. Photos move away from the natural look.

What makes it 0.3 stars worse than the 13 Ultra?

Can I ask something from the GSMArena Team? Because I think this review forgot to test something "important", the "AI Zoom" (don't know what the name is).
The sample gallery shows photos only up to x10 zoom, but from what I heard from x30 onwards the camera uses "AI" to "enhance" the image. it's not just the usual "sharpening", it tries to fill the gaps in detail. There are scenes where it fails as expected, but on mostly simpler scenes it works really well!
Maybe the team could write and additional test just investigating this feature.
If it really works I bet that in six months it'll be a standard feature among all hight end phones.
