Are you aware that the Redmi Turbo 3 comes with cameras that you only find in budget phones, lacks a lot of features that this one has, and that low price is only for China? Of course the global version will not be that cheap. The Edge 50 Ultra is indeed overpriced, but not a useless piece of technology.

Love the wood back.
Great wood-themed photos BTW

Darth Caesium, 16 Apr 2024Edit 2: Wouldn't ya know it, Motorola just *HAD* to us... more12-18mm is least important.
Using 1/2" is such waste of space.
1/2.5" is more than enough.

I was considering a Motorola but this years design is unbelievably ugly, all the colours and finishes are hideous and cheap looking. Literally everyone will think its a $200 phone. What were they thinking! The Edge 40 had a glass back and classy premium finishes, not fake wood and “vegan leather” aka plastic!

Darth Caesium, 16 Apr 2024Same. There's definitely some oversharpening going on,... moreThe Edge 50 Pro has the older OmniVision sensor, but it's interesting to look at the processing in the review just published. The colours look very saturated to me. If you look at the snail shot in particular, the grass is too green and there's a yellow tinge to the entire photo. I guess we won't be seeing massive improvements in this generation.

> The latter is a bold approach, but it will likely appeal to some
Bro, seriously GSMarena? They write this as if it hasn't been done before. This is LITERALLY a tribute to the old but gold Moto X series with its wooden back!
Have some sense of nostalgia and respect for it, will you? The Moto X series was greatly missed, that was the peak of Motorola IMO. I am happy to see Motorola/Lenovo doing a wooden design once more, even if it's not real wood.

beautiful looking phone, reminds me of the Find X5 Pro and feels like it has the Find X6 Pro's camera layout. Regardless, nice phone, 200 dollars too expensive. Maybe even 300 dollars. Should've gotten an 8 Gen 3 at least. Cameras and software sweeten the deal/minimize the blow but still, too expensive. Z60 Ultra is far superior except for the software and we of course have the OP 12.

"while starting at €999, which is considered affordable in today's flagship segment."
My brother in Christ, Redmi Turbo 3 uses the same chipset and it costs less than $300.
How is this overpriced piece of garbage, "affordable" ?

Darth Caesium, 16 Apr 2024Same. There's definitely some oversharpening going on,... moreIt is motorola thing.
If I use dng and just save as jpeg without editing, it looks far better than jpeg.
Exactly like samsung, tries to enhance to look good, but ruins photo.

Snapdragon 8s gen 3 = SD 7 gen series. Seems Motorola is using Samsung's script and you wonder why Xiaomi , and BBK family devices sell like hot cake

Darth Caesium, 16 Apr 2024Same. There's definitely some oversharpening going on,... moreEdit 2: Wouldn't ya know it, Motorola just *HAD* to use the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor for the ultrawide. The only legitimate reason for using this sensor is as a selfie camera (which they also did anyway), because it's just such a tiny sensor to be used anywhere else while also being rather large for selfie cameras. Why can't they use something better for goodness sake, like a Sony LYT-600? If the OnePlus Nord CE4 can use that sensor for its main camera, then why can't a €1000 flagship use it for its ultrawide?

Motorola really disappoints this year with their choices.
8s gen 3 is almost on par with last year 8gen2 and almost on par with 7+gen 3.
Why not 8 gen3 like all other flagships?
Same story with battery. Why 4500mah and not 5000??

Nice throwback to the old Moto X days with the wooden back but they could make it prettier, with a more highlighted camera island idk...

Whoa there looks to be a fair bit of noise from the main sensor shots in daylight! Especially in the foreground on the plants.. Hopefully they can clean that up with software updates
