MiksuMasterJBL, 10 May 2024Their SOCs are so weak, that they use AI heavily, otherwise... moreFor your main point I completely agree with you.

I always wondered why Huawei's photos looked so artificial/ I felt like they were in the uncanny valley recently, especially considering the Mate 40 Pro was top notch for me. Something felt wrong. I knew it was processing but couldn't put my finger on it, everything was perfectly sharp and noise free. Then I looked at some comparisons on yt and it was most obvious with this phone and its zoom. Huawei doesn't capture more detail or at least, its processing doesn't leave more detail, they MAKE more detail. Huawei has been the spearhead of the "processing to improve photos" philosophy more than Google I'd say, after the Pixel 1, Huawei's innovations were more important and I'd say, destructive. Instead of subtractive processing, like noise reduction, sharpening, etc. Huawei does additive, adding in details. That's creepy to me and that's why I don't like their photos recently.

Due to this, I just can't properly like the Huawei shots, sharpened to the point of feeling unnatural, "perfectly balanced", and some other defects like weird/vibrant af colors sometimes. If someone likes this then sure, that's awesome but I'm always going to be a fan of classic "normal" photos. Oppo and Xiaomi are the best in this and Vivo is the perfect middle ground between processed and natural. Google has that uncanny valley for me and Apple processes faces weirdly as well, I'd say it's less about the AI imagery and more about the weird way Apple processes stuff like highlights especially that makes their photos look weird.

Even after saying all this though, I'd rather take a good artificial shot, than a horrendous shot like Samsung or Asus. Overprocessed to bits, noise reduction is too harsh and sharpening is turned up to 11. Nauseating at times to look at.

kirk781, 10 May 2024The Harmony OS is a fork of Android AOSP or based on Androi... moreI could be wrong but I believe it started as a fork and then with time they further distance themselves.

Harmony Next is apparently its own OS but with a separate "android engine" in it for running of android apks.

Their SOCs are so weak, that they use AI heavily, otherwise the photos would look terrible.

Vivo X100 Ultra will use tradissional camera technology aka 0 AI.

AI also deletes details and looks like chalkboard painting.
Tradissional camera technology doesn't delete details at all.
Vivo X100 Ultra will also have huge sensors and with a 4 nanometer chip, they will maybe outperform the Huawei's cameras.
If we take hardware vs hardware camera battle, Vivo X100 Ultra maybe the winner.
No AI allowed, only the tradissional way/ original way!!!!
      0 AI!!!!!

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra also doesn't use tradissional camera technology.
They also cheat aka use AI.

Anonymous, 09 May 2024How does China threaten youtubers? That sounds absolutely ... moreSo why MKBHD or Mrwhoistheboss didn't review Mate 60 ? Any clues? They test everything but somehow magically omitted Mate 60 :) If they DARE to do this huawei will never give them any free stuff, simple.

The Harmony OS is a fork of Android AOSP or based on Android 12.0?

Anonymous, 09 May 2024You know there are literally real world comparison videos o... moreNo, there is no phone to phone comparison because Huawei bans this. Go show me ONE video of reliable youtuber running geekbench of huawei against samsung. You won't find one. Go to youtube and open eyes, you will see a pattern of paid youtubers praising huawei. Smoothness? scrolling apps on the screen? Gimme a break. Even 200USD phones are smooth:) My iphone XR is as smooth as my S23U. This proves nothing. Go to store install some games and check by yourself, remember internet is not reliable source as everyone can be paid to say anything.

Anonymous, 09 May 2024I am not sure that Huawei will be able to fix that remarkab... moreYour 5-10 year old compact cameras will probably blow out the clouds or sky in at least half of these scenes, just saying. Probably A LOT noisier in shadows or when shooting in medium to low light, too.

The fact that you haven't pointed out what *exactly* is the problem with this phone's camera says it all.

I am not sure that Huawei will be able to fix that remarkably mediocre camera performance with software patches. It looks like it is more of a hardware/lenses problem. The photo samples posted here are comparable to the cheapest point and shoot cameras from 5-10 years ago. Since this is the accent of the phone, because nothing else is really appealing about it, this is a huge disappointment.

Kuba, 09 May 2024I already tested in the store with geekbench against my Sam... moreI call rubbish on that. Huaweis chipset is similar in performance to Snapdragon 8 gen 1 which is faster than an S20 and on a similar level to galaxy s21 and s22.

Anonymous, 09 May 2024Honestly, how long before the full review? It's been a... moreOh, it's going to take a good while, be sure of that. They also have many other devices in for review, like the Camon 30 Pro, Infinix Note 40 Pro+, Nord CE4, the Magic 6 Lite which has been undergoing testing for about five months now, and they probably also have the Sony Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI already undergoing their reviews.

Kuba, 09 May 2024I already tested in the store with geekbench against my Sam... moreKirin 9010 is at least 20% faster in single-core and roughly 50% faster in multi-core compared to Exynos 990 inside S20. If you're going to lie, at least try to make it sound believable lmfao.

Kuba, 09 May 2024I already tested in the store with geekbench against my Sam... moreYou're meant to test the camera, the smoothness of the UI and other features of the phone. Instead, you run pointless benchmarks? We already know about the processor speed of the SOC and it won't detract from how people will normally use the phone.

Huawei is painfully slow compared to 4 year old Samsung. Same story was with Mate 60, until today there are no reviews from big youtubers because China threaten them.

only CCP loyalist will buy 4x overpriced phone. Really, the performance is similar to vivo v30 or redmi 13, phones that cost 4x less.
