Judging by the samples, the Xperia shoots considerably better photos than the S24 Ultra and the 15 pro max, so how on earth you write that they shoot better photos? How weird...

I agree with you about the ridiculous prices. That is really what turns people off on Sony phones. They are exclusively for the wealthy. Even if I could spend that easily on a phone, I would still not feel good about spending that much on a phone.

Sony phones always look good on paper (although that's debatable now with the downgraded resolution), but their software bugs, crummy after-sales support, and exorbitant pricing are dealbreakers.

And they still haven't fixed dynamic range in portrait mode. Like seriously? Is it that much difficult for sony to fix it ?

I still prefer the LG V20 over the VI. I would buy that again even with the, in phone years, ancient specs. Great audio quality, the aspect ratio I most like, nice and wide, not too large for pockets, micro sd card slot, headphone jack, user replaceable battery, nice design, metal back, the second screen at the top is useful, FM radio, IR blaster and the camera on it isn't bad. It did everything I want in a phone. Since that one, I have yet to find a phone that does as much for my use. The LG V60 is great but too large and heavy. It is uncomfortable to have it in a pocket. I currently use a Sony Xperia 5 III. The one thing that bothers me about it is the narrow screen. The audio quality is better on the v60, the battery drains too much these days, but it isn't heavy.
The vi still isn't as wide as the v20, I doubt that the wired audio quality is as good, wireless it does beat it and the camera is likely much better. Having said all that, I was planning on buying it only to find that it isn't available, apparently, in the U.S. If it were, though, It would still be off limits to me. $1300.99 is far too much for a phone. Flagship have become exclusively for the wealthy. Anything over 200 is really too much, but that's the prices these days. It's designed to be disposable, too. It's a lot of money to ask for. Reading these comments, I see that I am not the only one who prefers older phones. Bring back the LG V20!

Bravosixgoingdark, 16 May 2024I've used Xiaomi before their hardware is fine but the... moreOk, but what does that have to do with Xiaomi sales rising?

Somehow Sony has a knack for improving some things brilliantly, while blatantly omissing to improve other things.
Kudos to Sony for the exceptional battery life. This is a game changer!
And Kudis for probably the best stereo speakers in a cameraphone, maybe even surpassing iPhone speaker quality.
Also praise goes to Sony for keeping their flagship compact and well designed, omitting the gargantuan bulky camera bumps that some other camera-centric phones tend to have.

That being said, thermal management is still a mess. Overheating may not be as dramatic a problem as it was two generations before. In some circumstances, the Sony 1iv couldn't even take videos for a couple of minutes because the device overheated.
But still, thermal throttling still seems to be well less managed than in many other competing devices.

And although this review was very nicely worded, it became obvious that the variable tele zoom lens still has a hard time producing sharp detailed images.

I always wanted to have an Xperia phone, but every generation had a few quirks that were big enough in order to say to myself: let's wait until next year, then they will - hopefully - have sorted it out.
So, please get the Tele-camera reworked so that it provides quality on par with the competition, and then we can talk.

Just if the MENA wasn't limited to the likes of Apple and Samsung :(

As someone above you said, this phone shouldn't cost more than $800. And even wifh that it'd have worse cam than Vivo X100 Pro which is way cheaper than that.

does this phone still perform such slow-motion video like previous Xperia ?

Finally a Sony phone worth buying. Probably my next phone, but in a year or two. Cons imperfections I'm sure will be fixed via firmware updates. I just don't like the textures around the phone. Dirt sticks much easier to it and matte finish looks not so premium.
