I used my note 8 for 6 years, only swapped in 2023 due to lack of storage. You vivo pawns like to assume we are like the techtubers with switch their phone every year. Funny enough, i feel that you guys are the ones who switch more often as a large portion of vivo's sales come from budget phones

        Overall great user experience...
Got 8K 30 fps but don't record HDR 10 plus or dolby....I'm not concerning about it.... Video quality is very clear and nice..
Other foldable got HDR but they burn the colors...
Weird is 120W charger in the box while supports 100..

I'm just ending Samsung and switching to X FOLD3 PRO

I had those on an X Fold 2 and it was the main reason I sold it.

I want to buy this phone but really want Google Pay to work. I got a Mi 10 Ultra (China version) and Google Pay doesn't work on it (add card but when doing contactless, transaction doesn't complete and I get an error message).

Have you seen the Honor Magic V3? Looks to me Honor is only worth it if you it to be thin as possible.

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2024They aren't talking about weak structurally! They a... moreFootprint means how much space it takes in a pocket or flat. Length, width or depth. While in terms of depth yes the Z Fold series haa a larger foot print the co.pwtition still takes up a larger footprint in length with the super large screens and more so in total volume.

7 yes OS updates and security is. VERY welcome change and I suspect Samsung will offer paid extended warranty for parts and labour when needed.

Software, as we've seen with someone owning the Vivo Fold 3 Pro has mentioned is where Samsung is KING! Beyond the hardware specs it's the software we interact with to use the hardware beyond folding a d buttons physically.

Too often sicophanticfanboys on either side forget this. Hardware specs are ONLY as good as the software to experience the phone overall. As we've seeninlessthan 6 months this year with the Galaxy S24 launch in January, even the Galaxy S21 gets some of the Galaxy AI features and that's 4 generations older.

That's a HUGE win! Many people don't upgrade even 2/3 years down the road and it's not necessarily about $.

It's about value per dollar or for trade in value for the upgrade.
Even this year therearwmanyZFold 3 owners trading up to the Fold 6.

Oh and battery zealots ... the Fold 6 and 5 STILL holds up VEry well against Fold competition in terms of talk time music playback times etc.

I've been using a Chinese X Fold 3 Pro (White 512 GB) for a few weeks now in Switzerland, and I'd like to share my user experience here, so that people wondering about getting the Chinese version know what's working and what isn't:

                          1. Google One Backup does not work. It will say that it backs up all data and the backups do run, but I'm unable to see the backup in my drive. Still, Google Photos backups do work reliably and other Google things like Contacts or Calendar sync well.
                          2. Google Maps Location History does work - somewhat. I was able to enable it, and it does track which cities I've visited, but it does not track every step reliably. It sometimes confuses driving for cycling or vise versa, and there are missing entries. Maybe Vivo is killing the background process?
                          3. Google Pay/Wallet seems to work fine, however, I have no card that I can pair with it atm. Looking at this with my bank now.
                          4. I tried pairing a Pixel Watch 2 with the phone, but it did NOT work. I installed the chinese Wear OS app as well, but either the watch app crashes or it is unable to find it.
                          5. Android Auto does not work (yet). Installed the AA app from the play store, but AA is not recognized in the car (tried with Uconnect in a Chrysler Pacifica). Vivo has said that they will bring an update in August to make AA work on Origin OS, but said update hasn't arrived yet.
                          6. The Google Assistant does work after installing speech synthesis from Google and the Google Assistant app. Also, Gemini works. However, the widget shown in the videos from Average Dad is NOT Google Assistant, it's just voice search. Instead, use either the Assistant App to launch it, or use the Pixel Search widget (download Pixel Search from the play store). The Pixel Search widget also has the microphone, but instead of launching voice search, it actually launches the Assistant (or Gemini if you have it changed).
                          7. Setting important apps like Google Messages and WhatsApp to high power mode and enabling autostart is essential to receive notifications on time.
                          8. Nearby Share, aka Quick Share, is not available on the device. It does NOT work. You cannot enable it in the Google settings.
                          9. If you are looking into using a custom Launcher like Nova or Lawnchair, you will have to make a Vivo Account to set the alternative launcher as default. Then it will work, but animations are still bugged. I switched launchers because the stock one does not give me themed and round icons.
                          10. The stock Vivo keyboard sucks really hard. Even worse than Samsung's. Thankfully, Gboard installed without any issues and the Material You theme also applies.
                          11. And lastly, for whatever reason, the Microsoft Teams app and also TWINT (some Swiss banking app) stops working after a few days. The apps will just hard crash instantly after launching. Not sure what is going on there. Now installed Teams via Vivo Store, hope it works this way.

If somebody somewhere figures out how to unlock the bootloader on current Vivo devices, I will flash the global rom. Sadly, this seems very unlikely at the moment.

Feel free to ask questions, as I still use the phone as my daily driver.

The pen is missing in Vivo, that could be a con.

They are saying the performance is weak and design is weak,

As in has a much bigger footprint, heavier, worse cameras and much smaller battery compared to the competition while being the most expensive option.

It's a bit like calling a honda civic weak against a Tesla or something, yes its an incredibly reliable car but it doesn't go anywhere near as fast as the other.

Samsung has solid build quality, anyone who makes a claim that it doesn't (in comparison to competitors) is making a silly claim, the design is old and it's behind in many hardware aspects but it's solid.

Samsung still leads with software and it's 7 year commitment is strong, I however do not think this is enough of a pull anymore as the competition is offering 3-4 years of android upgrades and 4-5 years of security updates which is enough for me personally, when it was like 2 years that was abysmal but now it's good enough considering I keep phones for about 2 years to trade in if a deal is good enough.

Yet every foldable and flippable Samsung phones have survived Jerryrig test. So maybe the "weak" hardware is the camera department but not build quality.

I'm using Vivo fold. I was having Samsung S23 ultra. Vivo is much better than Samsung fold especially in the form factor. Of course Vivo requires improvement in certain areas but still I would prefer Vivo. But if u r only brand conscious go for Samsung!

DeepIn2U, 31 Jul 2024But you DO ADMIT they have advantages!;) So where is you... moreI have stated about intentions to buy one because I intend to buy a foldable either as my next phone or as my next next phone. I haven't bought it yet, but since Vivo is likely going to be available in the UK through carriers next year, I might do it then. I do have an intention of buying it, just not now, because I'd like to own my Google Pixel 7 Pro for at least 1 more year. When I pull the trigger and buy it, I'll let you know, which could take 1-4 years, so you're gonna have to wait. But, I do genuinely have the intention of buying a foldable, I'm not being dishonest or an "armchair CEO".

Also, right now my only major gripe with foldables apart from the plastic screen (which I'm sure will get better to some extent) is the lack of dust resistance/dustproofing. I'd be very happy with an IP58 or IP68 rating, but anything less than IP58 and we have a problem, because dust is inevitably going to get in and break the hinge long before the amount of folds it's rated to be able to withstand. If that was fixed, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a foldable as much as I do right now, and even then, I'm not that hesitant.

Techgg, 28 Jul 2024love this comment 👌👌👌👍👍Of course you do when you edit it to suit your narrative.

A key importance is left out "there are few advantages Samsung has here" that's a strong admittance of having an advantage. Eventhough Dark has chosen to pick the competition.
